Put the original RAM back in the computer. If it works as expected, you need to return the new RAM and get different modules.

What brand did you purcahse and from where? Macs are very picky about the RAM that can be installed.

Mac's are very finicky when it comes to RAM.

See the >  iMac (Mid 2010): Memory specifications

For reliable suppliers that test their iMac RAM, go to either > OWC or > Crucial

I put the original ram back and I had one extra card similar to the factory one's and it worked.

    Factory are Samsung 2GB ddr3 1333Hz, and I had one 4GB.

The ones that I bought were Kingston, and they are the exact same specs. So why wouldn't it work?

Pretty much as den.thed said - iMacs seem to extremely particular about which RAM is installed. OWC and Crucial are the most often recommended places to buy. They guarantee the RAM will work and will exchange it without quibble if you have problems with it.

Kingston and Corsair RAM often seems to cause problems for users, based on reports on here.

Like Paul_31 & den.thed said - Macs are very finicky about RAM. It has to be manufactured just right in order to work properly.

Use the links den.thed provided to check your options with OWC or Crucial - you may end up spending a little more money, but the RAM won't give you any troubles.
