Jan 25, 2014 6:17 AM in response to twwestby turingtest2,Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
- iTunes
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
- Bonjour
- Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Jan 26, 2014 5:23 AM in response to turingtest2by twwest,This worked.....however shortly after the processs seemed to work.....I got the dreaded blue screen. System would not boot in any mode for a long time. This morning I was finally able to come up in safe mode. I reviewed the event logs and the only critical event I found was related to power failure. I tryed a few applications while in safe mode and everything seemed okay.
Now I'm back up normally and all is well....so long as it ends well. what a night!!!!! I really do hope the next Itunes update doesn't go like this one did.
thanks much

Jan 29, 2014 12:08 AM in response to twwestby Sir Pippo,I think that there should be a working update from apple, that would be at last a tribute to the clients, who also pay for the music and other stuff.
...its called "Taking care of customer!!!"
