Q: Upgraded to iTunes 11.1 and now it won't recognize my iPhone

ok i keep seeing that alot of people are saying that your solution works for them, but i still dont see how it works for them when it still hasnt worked for me yet. i cant even uninstall itunes in the correct order that it tells me to if my mobile device support isnt even installed in the first place. i have two picttures to show you. 1 will be a message that i am getting when trying to manually install the usbaapl file from the device manager area and 1 will be an error message that i get when i try to install the mobile deivce support file. i found it by opening up the apple software update program and when going to install the itunes file, i clicked on tools and clicked on "open updated downloads folder" and it showed me the itunes setup file and the apple mobile device support setup file. this is the error message i get when trying to install the mobile device support file.

and this is what i get when i try to manually install the usbaapl file through device manager when updating the device.

i really dont want to try puting my phone through dfu mode and doing it that way, i just ned to know how else i can fix the problem of making my iphone show in itunes. by the way i have the newest update installed and i tried connecting my iphone and opening itunes and it still doesnt show. i need some major help on this please! anybody here that can help me out with this, please respond somehow or reply to my message i placed here.

perfect works just right thank you. I would add this though when i right clicked my iphone i didnt get the option to update driver so i had to go to (devmgmt.msc) in the search menu to open deivices up and do it from there.

iPhone5 on Win7 64-bit aiming for iTunes 11.1.4 ... "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" wasn't showing up in Device Manager, tho driver 'available'.  Many other devices (I program barcode devices) connect to this PC with a 5-foot extender cable between the PC and their specific cable.  iPhone5 would not.  Cable always allowed re-charge, so no reason to doubt that.

FYI, so many earlier suggestions in this thread made sense.  They just didn't work for me.

On a hunch, I tried a different cable thru the extender; still nothing.  Bypassed the extender and ALL WAS OK!  Still wouldn't work with original cable.  And 'OK' cable doesn't work thru extender.  Sounds silly, but feels like a signal strength issue from here, tho I wouldn't swear to it.

Of course, the USB Driver now shows up in Device Manager.  So no external installation required.  WMDC found it all by itself.

So thanks to all.  You led me down a tedious path, but also to the solution!

I had the same problem and tried numerous things and recommendations from the forums and nothing worked. This is what worked for me. Try this before you try more complicated ways.

Uninstall Itunes. Go to Control Panel and then open Programs and Features. Uninstall Itunes, then uninstall Apple Application Support, then uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support and then uninstall Apple Software Update.

Restart the computer.

Download the latest version of Itunes and install it.

Open Itunes.

Then plug in your Iphone.

Also, I would like to add that for me it actually took two tries because the first time I did not have my device already connected to iTunes, so if you're having trouble it may be because you have your device unplugged while reinstalling the driver. If so, try to go through all the steps again with your device plugged in and iTunes open.
