Q: Panasonic GX7 Raw files crash display

I installed 5.01 (on top of Mavericks and Aperture 3.4.5) but it has not given support for Panasonic GX7 .RW2 files.

In fact, coming anywhere near the files with Preview crashes the display, requiring a reboot, etc. Very nasty. Could someone advise?

I did not realize this might be related to my install of Mavericks. I also can no longer access RW files in Finder or Preview without crashing the display. I thought it might be a problem with my data card so I replaced it but the new card gives me the same result. Does anyone have any insight?

As an update to this, I can report that Aperture 3.5 handles the raw files in question without incident, but the Preview is still behaving badly.

I have recently and happily installed Mavericks on a 2013 macbook Air, and the same raw files are OK both in Preview and Aperture. So I am looking at either: my 2008 iMac is too old, or not enough memory (4GB).

or Preview app is screwed up.

There is a suggested probe and possible fix for Preview from Linc Davis on this thread:

I will let you know how it goes if I get to it.

I tried from Photoshop and I can see the files but they're grayed out. I also checked out the discussion thread that you suggested and may head that direction but I need a big block of time for that. I also have a 2008 Mac with 4 GB but I never had issues with these files before Mavericks.
