Q: Confused iPhone wi-fi syncing to two iTunes libraries

My iPhone is confused. It is syncing to two different computers. I have always had it synced to my home MacBook, and only charge it via USB during work on a Windows7 computer. Never a problem in three years. Now with ios5 and iTunes 10.5, after setting up automatic wi-fi syncing with the Macbook at home, I now see that it is also set-up to auto-sync with my work windows computer. On the iPhone, both computers are individually listed in the Settings/General/iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, and I can sync to both and get no warnings, etc. Funny, the windows computer does not have wi-fi capabilities, but when I do connect it via cable to charge, i can initiate and complete a wi-fi sync. There are no apps at all on that iTunes. What is it syncing?

Also, I never had music on my phone before, and I tried to add a few albums from my home iTunes library yesterday. When I pressed sync, iTunes said the phone was synced to another iTunes library. To continue, it would erase my iPhone completely and load everything from that computer. But, that's where all of the content came from in the first place!

How do I remove the windows work computer from the Settings/General/iTunes Wi-Fi Sync page so only my home MacBook is listed, and clear up all the confusion my iPhone is having?

Thanks!

iPhone 4, iOS 5

I had the same issue, since I had Windows PC and recently switched to MacBook Pro. I reformatted my Windows laptop before I realized I needed to remove the PC from my iPhone. There is work around for this.

Using iPhone, you can go to:

    >Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings.

It will erase your other computers, and you may have to readjust some of the settings. Your data, apps, contacts, etc will stay current.

Once you Reset All Settings, you have to connect your iPhone with the USB cable to the computer that you want to use for wireless sync. Enable the "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi". This should fix the issue.

    It worked for me.

Excellent. I had tried everything else that others were suggesting but this truly worked on the first try.

    Good job and many thanks!

You should see something like this:

    Old Computer

    Apps, Books

    New Computer

    Movies, Music

This means the phone is still syncing some categories to the old computer. To fix, find what you need to re-sync. In the above case, go into Books and choose "Sync" at the top and tell it to replace what's on the phone. For Apps, it is not as intuitive. Go to the bottom and choose "Automatically install new apps." Repeat for all other categories and it should delete the old computer.

In iOS Version 12.3.4.  Go to the device (iPhone) when connected vis USB in iTunes and click on the Apps icon just below the Summary for the iPhone.  Scroll down part way until you see a Check Box for "Automatically install new apps" and check the box.  When I did this the second Library on my iPhone ( which had apps only listed) disappeared.  I don't know the significance of this item's check box but it solved the second Library problem.

Just came across this post and found that Checking the Box for "Automatically install new apps" has corrected my issue.
