Jan 27, 2014 5:14 PM in response to deedee204by turingtest2,Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
- iTunes
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
- Bonjour
- Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Jan 27, 2014 5:21 PM in response to turingtest2by gds72,I have the same problem running Windows 7. Apple Support tried to help, resorted to manual removal of files but Bonjour and one other won't delete. Message says the folder or a file in it is open in another program. Tried rebooting several times. Any suggestions?

Jan 27, 2014 5:49 PM in response to josefromculiacanby turingtest2,Unfortunately uninstalling and reinstalling, or repairing the current copy of iTunes alone doesn't fix the problem....
My earlier post to this thread should help you resolve the issue.

Jan 29, 2014 11:46 AM in response to deedee204by turingtest2,Apple have released a new support article regarding the issue. I've a link to it and some additional advice here:
Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for WIndows updates
I'm currently running experiments with the official advice to see if there are any surprises. In the meantime what have you tried so far? Have you been able to remove all the iTunes components and clean the suggested folders?
