Jan 27, 2014 4:09 PM in response to Jacki03by pcbugfixer,G'day jacki03,
Just make sure that all the folders mentioned in Step 2, have been removed 100% as these if remaining, contain old corrupted data that a new installion will not correctly overwrite with new data !!

Jan 27, 2014 4:34 PM in response to pcbugfixerby rjmacpherson,I went down the path I did as my first google searches seemed to indicate that it was a C++ Library issue as other apps "seemed" to be having problems with this same dll. I didn't even know this site existed so I had no instructions to follow. Even when I did finally find/join this site my google query brought me to "penelope184" 's issue which was the same as mind so I clicked the I have this question too option hoping for a response from someone.
I continued on my way until I was finally so frustrated that I started to remove everything Apple related until it finally worked.
My frustrating ordeal seems to be from what I have read so far is one of the simpler fixes as I didn't need to remove anything in any particular order, remove/delete anything manually, use any 3rd party uninstaller, registry cleaner, .....
I only uninstalled via the Windows add/remove programs the following Apple software:
- iTunes
- Apple Software Update
- Apple Mobile Device Support
- Bonjour
- Apple Application Support
Apple definitely has an issue here as at last count over a 100 people have selected I have this question too option on penelope184's original question.
It seems this has worked for many people, sorry it's not working for everyone.
Nice to see someone like yourself jumping in and helping people. Hopefully I won't need this site again but I like what I see so far.

Jan 27, 2014 4:42 PM in response to pcbugfixerby Jacki03,I double checked and all folders in step 2 were removed.
No luck. I reinstalled and it said the same thing:Apple Application Support was not found.
What do you suggest now?

Jan 27, 2014 5:17 PM in response to penelope184by TNwiseman,Same errors from the update last week - deleted the folders in the exact order, then got a completely different error. Went in and uninstalled the same folders, including iCloud this time (updated 1-22-14, which I'm now thinking was the problem to start with). Installed iTunes again and works perfectly...all libraries in place as well. Best wishes!

Jan 27, 2014 5:35 PM in response to penelope184by Vaquero,SIMPLE, SIMPLE,SIMPLE
If you're runinning windows 7 or 8, this worked for me. I tried all the other methods on here and solved this problem myself by accident. Try the easiest method first and this is it. If it doesn't work then try the others if you like. This method works if Itunes doesn't recognize your Iphone and if you have the error message stating that MSVCR80.dll is missing. I had both on different computers at the same time.
Open Control Panel and open Programs and Features.
1. Uninstall Itunes
2. Uninstall Apple Application Support
3. Uninstall Apple Mobile Support
4. Uninstall Apple Software Update
5. Restart the computer
6. Install the new version of Itunes.
7. open Itunes and connect you Iphone etc.
Do these simple task before you do anything else like deleting folders files etc. If this doesn't work for you then follow the advice of (someone on here) who sent me an email stating that basically didn't know what I was talking about.
I spent hours deleting folders, files, going into Divice manager Services etc. Nothing worked for me but the simple solution above. Good Luck

Jan 27, 2014 5:38 PM in response to penelope184by chuck579,In reading these threads on the MSVCR80.dll issue and iTunes, it isn't clear if reinstalling always works. So what is the problem with the iTunes install? We need to know what's wrong, then take appropriate action. If MSVCR80.dll is missing and iTunes no longer runs (after an iTunes update), then 1) what else is broken? 2) did the iTunes install break MSVCR80?
A search on the web gives an interesting link: http://www.herdprotect.com/msvcr80.dll-7073ae319ec299d7ca85cc0df79121d2725cf882. aspx. This describes MSVCR80 as: "Part of the runtime components of Visual C++ Libraries required to run applications developed with Visual C++. The libary MSVCR80.DLL, “Microsoft® C Runtime Library” by Perion Network has been known to be a potentially unwanted program that has been detected by 1 anti-malware scanner."
So this tidbit prompts another possibility: 3) is MSVCR80.dll problem the result of malware?
I'm surprised we haven't heard from Apple on this issue yet. So, guys at Apple, wuzzup? What's the problem, and how do we fix it?
And perhaps you should pull back the iTunes update until it is fixed. Pay attention!!

To each his own ☺
You did read some of the issues in this Topic starting on page 1 through to 5 ? or you just hoped in at the end ?
Just some comments to look at, and the
https://discussions.apple.com/message/24653847#24653847
https://discussions.apple.com/message/24654456#24654456
and the "MSVCR80.dll" is only part of the problem. Note that the item also said " ... and Error 7 (windows error 126)" which in the end result popped up multiple error messages besides the "MSVCR80.DLL" and related Visual C++ etc., issues.
- Fixing the frame does not alter the picture it framed, stand back and look at both to see the whole picture and fix this.
Some others mentioned previously " ..... with start-up errors, email delays caused by "MobileMe Services", Runtime errors "R6034", and countless other errors trying to delete temporary files, i.e. empty the Temp folder."
It now becomes the point of eliminating the errors correctly and having a clean installation of iTunes, or a partial fix that looks like it’s working but may not be a clean installation that also fixed other related errors !!
- I trust this point is clear !
Noteworthy also is the point that it was v11.1.4.62 that failed to update the iTunes installation and corrupted it, yet with a new clean install it performed correctly and installed with all relevant applications and parameters for iTunes v11.1.4.62
Have fun, and do as you please.

Jan 27, 2014 6:11 PM in response to chuck579by Vaquero,Yes this could be a problem with Apple but not really sure. I reinstalled the Visual C++ update to windows also and that didn't solve my problem anymore than the other things that I tried and believe I spent hours. I just don't want people to start deleting files etc and getting into more trouble before they try the simple way first. I tried the hard way and nothing worked until I performed the operation that I just suggested above and it was simple and worked. The MSVCR80.dll is in the install program of Itunes.

Jan 27, 2014 6:54 PM in response to pcbugfixerby Vaquero,to discussions-re.I really don't think I want to do that. I get enough emails. This is the first time that I have entered any forum and now probably the last. I was only trying to help people who like me had a problem with Itunes. I only wanted to suggest simple methods first before they started hours in search of things that were a waste of time, in which I did. And no you are right I did jump in at the end. I read a few problems that the people were having and thought that I might help. It seem that you took offense with my method, work or not, and decided that I didn't know what I was talking about. Personally my problem I have solved on my own without this forum but just happened on it by chance of trying to help someone else with the same problem. I don't think I suggested they try anything that would get them into deeper problems with my suggestions wither they take my advice or not, which was my intent. That if my advice didn't work then try another. Gday!

Seems that coming from Kentucky you may have fried a few chooks and jumped the gun, so to speak ☺☺☺
I did not take offence to anything you said or did !!
Your additions were valid for you and as we know may not work always for others. Trying this, then that, or who is first and what is second, is not the methods I recommend when related to Computer issues. I adopt specific fix methods that I know will work if the problem is fixed at first hand, i.e. when the problem first appeared, and not as an end attempt to fix the issue after trying 6 or so other methods that failed and corrupted the integrity of the OS and its file / folder structure.
This is a Forum and as such is one for open discussion and points of view relating to the Topic in question and where the poster(s) attempt to give, if they can, professional technical advice to the best of their ability, at least I thought so.
Shortcut methods do work at times, however not always and rather than fix a problem, can compound it.
Like I said before, "To each his or her own"
Have fun computing and be nice to your Mother-In-law ☺.

Jan 27, 2014 7:29 PM in response to Vaqueroby Big_Easy51,I tried this. Iam running Windows 7 Professional. Mobile Device Support would not uninstall, but the other modules did. I rebooted, Re-downloaded iTunes (multiple times, in fact). My desktop gadget shows the file is downloading, but a search does not find it anywhere on my computer.
AI am at the point where I have about had it with Apple devices. We have 3 iphones and 2 iPads. If you download an o/s update that is problematic, you cannot return to the former one.
And my iTunes was working fine until I tried to update to v 11.1.4 Now? No itunes on my computer.

Jan 27, 2014 8:10 PM in response to penelope184by awilon,The way to fix it is to uninstall iTunes, sell my iPhone and iPad and buy Galaxy. I am fed up with Apple lack of imagination and creativity, unacceptable restrictions, constant update errors, sloppy programming, ridiculous search options in iTunes. I have had it with Apple, my next phone is a Galaxy.

Jan 27, 2014 8:12 PM in response to Big_Easy51by Rusgin,Downloaded Itunes several times and could never get it up and running. Removed all Apple programs in control panel, and that didn't work. Went to Task Manager and removed 2 Apple processes there, and then downloaded itunes and it worked. Finally got itunes back. Unsure if this will work for anyone else, but might be worth a try.
