Nov 17, 2013 9:13 AM in response to Jay_Fby Twister65,I had this same problem about a month ago with my 4S and then it stopped happening on its own. It also happens on my iPad mini.
Last week I noticed the problem returned. I tryed Jay's home+power reboot and so far it seems to have stopped happening on my 4S and my iPad mini.
Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Just wanted to report back that after a few days, the problem "mysteriously" went away! I had to reboot my phone a few times for other reasons. I suspect one of those reboots may have fixed it? FWIW, I did the "hold power + home button past Apple logo disappearing" reboot.
As of this morning, the problem still hasn't returned after using the above solution.

But doing another 'reboot' fixed it. Too weird.

Hope it stays that way, but others (myself included) have had the problem mysteriously fix itself only to have it mysteriously reappear a day or two later. It's clear that this is a bug in iOS 7, and Apple is taking its sweet time getting around to it. I'm still keeping my iPhone 5 on iOS 6 just to avoid this issue, because I process a lot of email on my mobile devices.
Good luck!

Nov 22, 2013 5:39 AM in response to Gwydion92by Adrian97c,Yes I read that it can be recurring. I just wanted to point out that in 7.0.4 it's still exist since the title of thread is specific to 7.0.2.
I'm just glad we found a 'work around'.
I was happily Jailbroken on 6.1.2 (since i5 came out). But suddenly I started having serious battery drain issues, dead in 3 hrs after full charge! It was un-related to JB since I been JB since 2008... Anyhow I had no choice but to upgrade to 7 :(
Now I'll prob get the 5S & give my i5 to the wife.

Jan 28, 2014 6:36 AM in response to baymuby jjohnson191,Hey folks,
I cannot find a more recent thread discussing this issue, but I am having the same problem in both Mail and Messages App in version iOS 7.0.4. It began about 3 days ago; I don’t recall doing anything out of the ordinary.
Here is 30 second YouTube vid of issue. I couldn’t embed in my reply. http://youtu.be/bNw_JsXkO4Q
Put simply, when selecting one or more Mail or Messages items iOS automatically deselects them in a second. Also battery life is now nonexistent—phone now goes from 100% to 0% in about five hours.
Deleting all email accounts and adding back did not fix, nor did Home + Power button reboot.
In another thread it was mentioned that a Factory Reset (complete erase and set up as new phone) worked (see here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23165916#23165916) I REALLY need to avoid this option.
Any other thoughts would be very much appreciated.
Best , JJ

Jan 28, 2014 1:27 PM in response to baymuby ECMED,I was able to re-create this issue for myself by turning on sync for contacts, calendar, and reminders for my Outlook.com account. In the Mail app, I could not select multiple messages; the checkboxes would deselect in one or two seconds. I also could not swipe an individual message to pull up delete option; the delete option would disappear in a second or two as well. My iPhone's battery was draining more quickly, and my iPhone was warm to the touch all the time. I switched off the above sync features (I still sync with my Outlook.com account), and my issues with the Mail app went away without a reboot.

Jan 28, 2014 5:28 PM in response to ECMEDby jjohnson191,Wow! Thank you ECMED. Whatever led you to isolate those particular things, it seems to have worked!
I turned off sync for Contacts, Calendar and Reminders in Outlook Exchange account (Hotmail) and this seems to have done the trick.I can live without Reminders, but wanted to see what would happen if I re-enabled sync for just Contacts and Calendars (while leaving Reminders off) and so far, so good. I'll definitley repost oif issue returns, and if unsyncing these options fixes again.
Thanks a whole bunch!
