Q: Ios 7 4s sound issues no sound via music player

Hi just updated to ios7

 

Speaker make No sound in music player

Volume slider is not functioning at all , it's grey

Ringtones works fine.

I have apple tv in my local network so in ios 7 music player i switched to play through airplay

And back to iphone - no sound

Also tried another music player same **** - plays no sound

iPhone 4S, iOS 7

    Did you find any solutions to ur problem!! Because cleaning the dock and resetting my device isn't working for me !!

    I had the same problem in two devices 4S and I got fix it this way:

     

    1- Play any song from the Controller Center (Sliding from botton to top with the screen block) using the Earphones.

    2- Disconnect the earphones, (The song will stop), and then whitout the Earphones press play again..

    3- Fix it.....it should sounds now.

    I'm having the same issue as well. iPhone 4s running 7.0.4. Phone won't play sound from music app, youtube, notifications, calls, or texts. Sporadically I'll get half of a notification sound but then cuts out. Control center is also showing "dock connector" instead of iphone as an option. When mute switch is off my ringer setting shows up if I use the up/down volume buttons but won't show the little white/black boxes for the level. I can however prove it isn't a hardware issue because in settings-sounds-ringer and alerts it will play if I adjust the slider there or if I go to change the ringtone.

     

    I've done:

    Wipe and full reset without restoring to backup

    Cleaned all the ports (dock connector, speaker, mic, earpiece speaker, and headphone jack) with alcohol

    Taken to Apple store where they duplicated the issue as well as opened up the phone and tried the connections for wires inside but weren't able to fix the issue. They did say that I had a water sensor set off in the headphone jack but just barely.

     

    Since my phone is out of warrenty by only a few weeks, they won't swap it out for another phone. They want $200 to replace it and I'm not paying that to get another 4s when I can switch to a better carrier and get a new 5s for the same price. However, since I can't do that at the moment I'm stuck with a phone that doesn't work properly due to an Apple software issue.

     

    Has anyone had any luck with any other fixes? I've been through all 20 pages here and tried it all.

    I read through this whole thread, and it's pretty maddening.  People are lousy about noting complete symptoms, so it's hard to know if they are seeing what I am, but many are.  I really wanted to see if the current iOS 7.0.4 helps with this, but I guess not seeing that I will have to guess no.

     

    What I am seeing is that while I am playing music from my iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0.2 through either earbuds or an Airplay device, I will randomly lose output.  When I do, it's usually because the phone has switched output to the dock connector - which of course you all know is not connected to anything.  I up-swipe to get to the control screen and hit the Airplay icon, and see the dock connector selected, and I can usually choose the output I want and be happy again.  This happened while I was listening in bed last night without the phone even moving.  This happened today while I was playing over Airplay while browsing on the phone.  A secondary symptom is that when I would like to watch a quick video, I often have the dock connector selected, and have no good way to change that so far.  I am going to carry crap earbuds in my pocket and see if plugging and unplugging helps.

     

    I get that I might need to clean my dock connector.  If there's gunk in there, I guess undetectable breezes and butterfly wingbeats in Brazil can cause the software to think I have plugged the phone into a dock.  But let's be real - the reason this is a software bug is that 1) I told the software what audio output I wanted to use, and 2) software changed that without that being what I wanted.

     

    Another bug is that even if my phone thinks I am docked, I should be able to select the internal speakers.  But this choice goes away.  If we could select "internal speakers" without rebooting / starting Skype / sacrificing chickens, we would mostly be happy.  Especially if the random breezes did not change the output again.

     

    Maybe the control screen Airplay popup needs a "lock" choice (don't MESS with my audio).  I don't know the best UI solution, I just know iOS7 is getting this wrong.  I think that if I REALLY plug in earbuds or REALLY connect to a dock WITH SPEAKERS, I might want the audio output to change, but it's changing on me without my agreement now, which means something needs to change.

    Couldn't have said it Better Rob! I gave up too. The IOS 6 software on my other 4 and 4s is not causing any issues, but Apple Swears it has nothing to do with the Software upgrade. Really?? I will NOT upgrade the other phones and will continue to use them instead of my New Phone with IOS7. They have had 3 version upgrades to "Fix Bugs" with Facetime, (Which I couldn't care less for, since I never use it and had no idea there was an issue), but they won't spend an ounce of development time to investigate, resolve or BACK OUT the IOS7 problem that 10s of thousands of people are complaining about. I am sure that Same gust of wind floated past all our devices miraculously when the Upgrade was installed. Yeah, that's the answer. Why didn't I think of it?? I am now down to 11 months before I can swap out my phone for a different NON-APPLE product. I didn't upgrade to a iPhone 5 the last time because I didn't "want" to replace all my docking stations and charging cords. Now, since none of them work anyway, I am changing, and it Isn't for a phone that Apple claims no support for because they cannot figure out what "They" did to it. This is Not a Cleaning issue or a Reboot/Restore, or Even a Hardware battery/wet damp issue. IT IS SOFTWARE RELATED!

    What a joke this is - literally hundreds of thousands iPhones are now crippled.  It's amazing to me that Apple in their rush to release untested software have caused these issues - and then they blame it on hardware?  W-T-F?

     

    The only reason I'm here is becasue I've ugraded my wife's iPhone 4S to ios 7.0.3 which was working perfectly before except she wanted to add an app that needed the OS to be upgraded.  This has caused me hours of unwanted work.  Thanks Apple...it's no wonder I dumped my iPhone (way back) for a Samsung Galaxy.  I've never 2nd guessed that decision and never will I go back.  When she's eligible for an upgrade, she's getting a Samsung GS4 too.

    The solution is to clean out the dock.  I tried 5 times just scrubbing it with a toothbrush as hard as I could, but the trick is to use rubbing alcohol.  I used rubbing alcohol and it fixed it the first time I did it.  Even if you tried this before, try it again because it is most likely the solution if nothing else worked for you (I tried to fix this for three hours before finally trying rubbing alcohol)

    I agree. I did anything and everything I could find on the interwebs and for my problem, the solution was using a new, never-open bottle of rubbing alcohol.

    That is the same thing mine does and getting help fixing this issue is impossible.  NO MORE APPLE PRODUCTS FOR ME!!.  I am stuck paying for an expensive phone and data plan I can't even use.  Super Bummed =(

    Seems like 1000's of people are having the same problem. Judging from the amount of videos and more or less desperate offered solutions. APPLE where are you on this? Your lack of response to this issue for such a long time is offensive.

    Ok guys.

     

    So this is what fixed my problem. I KNOW it seems like a SOFTWARE problem, but I believe mine wasn't some months ago my phone just stopped charging. I was going to take it to a shop to check it out and it started working again in the car. So ok I forgot it.

     

    Last month it did it again. But this time nothing got it to work again. So what I did? Took it to a cellphone assistance company and well there they told me it was the bottom dock it had to be replaced all of it. It cost me R$90,00. That's like... 37 dollars.

     

    I kept using it from 28/01/2014 to today 07/01/2014 so I think I'm safe to tell you that it was actually a hardware problem in my case and just replacing the bottom dock did the trick.

    I can personally back this up.  I took mine into technician service place that serves the cell phones they fix the dock and it's been good ever since

    I fixed mine with CRC 2-26 Electrical Contact Spray. It claims to "improves electrical properties". 

     

    I sprayed my 30 pin connector with the spray then inserted it into my 4s dock, wiggled it, disconnected and reconnected several times.  After doing this about 10 times, I have sound again for everything!

     

    Mine did not appear to be a software issue. Just a hardware issue.

     

    Symptoms were: no sound for text, no sound for music, no key click sound, the only sound I had was for ringtone. I also could not adjust sound volume with side buttons.  The only time my side buttons and sound would work was when my headphones were attached.  This problem started this morning after I connected my phone to my PC's iTunes and I had also updated some apps.

     

    I have had the CRC spray for several years. You might can find it at Home Depot, Radio Shack or a good hardware store.

     

    My phone is 4s with IOS7.0.4
