Jan 29, 2014 6:01 AM in response to EddiieDingleby humuhumunukunuku,Just want to add my voice to the discussion. This is a huge problem for me. I often use Google Drive to take notes, occasionally copying excerpts from web pages or papers in Good Reader. The incessant automatic refreshing of apps kills productivity and makes multitasking almost worthless. Please fix this Apple! I have too much invested in you to switch to Android....

Jun 6, 2014 8:37 PM in response to Solarcby Ecolasante,Go to Settings, Safari, open links, and select "in background" instead of "in new page." This works like a charm for me.

Jul 7, 2014 8:36 AM in response to Scanerackby NothingMRY,I have solution for iPad, not sure about iPhone :-) easier than you thought guys!
Push home button twice to multitask screen, hold on screen of each app with two fingers while sliding downward then upward to the top part of your iPad (to swipe away the app-screen)
let me know if this work. I could get out of dark-screen craigslist app just 2 mins ago...thanks Solarc for mentioning about "multitask screen" and "second space" that I didn't understand and didn't do any help but inspired me to find my solution!! Yay!

Sep 28, 2015 3:28 PM in response to ERSinclairby jamessmke,Not sure if anyone is still following this thread, but I am having this same problem still on my brand new 6S. Luckily the processor is fast enough that it doesn't have the same awkward 3-second lag when switching apps reset like my 4S did, but it's still really annoying when the apps reset.
