Feb 1, 2014 2:45 PM in response to EdAnneby turingtest2,You're looking at a script to automatically remove iTunes and its components in advance of reinstalling it. When you reinstall iTunes those items are all installed as part of it.

Feb 1, 2014 2:46 PM in response to penelope184by brusk21483,I had this same issue and followed the instructions in this article:
http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findbyerrormessage/a/msvcr80-dll-not-found-missing -error.htm
It was pretty quick, and completely fixed the issue.

Feb 1, 2014 3:35 PM in response to penelope184by kirk58,You may not need to be so drastic in your uninstall procedures.
The only install in the last few days on my PC x64, Win7 was something today 2/1/14 in Apple Mobile Device Support. This was the most likely culprit in this error popping up.
1) Uninstalled iTunes
2) Uninstalled Apple Mobile Device Support as part of the iTunes Uninstall.
3) Reinstalled iTunes: All is well
The PC had to reinstall the driver for my iPhone, but all the previous backup items were still there.
All is well again.
Good Luck. I just don't understand these 'half baked' installations/updates that cause users so many problems!!

Feb 1, 2014 3:44 PM in response to EdAnneby turingtest2,Perhaps you misunderstood. I wasn't suggesting you try them yourself. It was part of a longer conversation regarding how to roll out iTunes 11.1.4 in a corporate envionment. I'm not sure however it is the best approach for individuals... My own advice for what to do is at Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

Get you, whatever you did, bits and pieces by the sounds of it, is most likely the reson you failed to correct the issue !!
How about going to the respective hyperlink for your operating system.
This is the post and I recommend that you expand the OS applicable to your System.
Its a pain in the rear having to do all this, but it works ☺
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
When you have loaded the respective link, remember to "Expand all " option at the top, print a hard copy of the instructions and when you follow each Stem 1, 2 and 3 and tick off the task as you have completed each item, also remember to reboot after each step, i.e. after Step 1, then 2, then 3, before you start using iTunes again !.
I have folowed them on at least 37 different windows operating systems and they work !!

I still have the issue. I had a USB connection to my iPhone and made an assumption.
I left my PC on last night with iTunes running and no devices connected via USB while my wife and I were out several hours. When we came back, our iPad was connected via WiFi, so we don't have the issue after all.

Feb 2, 2014 1:28 AM in response to pcbugfixerby penelope184,Lost track of how many times I've tried to uninstall and reinstall, but it finally seems to be working.
After uninstalling in the correct order as set out in pcbugfixer's post on page 4, I then removed all Apple related contect from programme folders.
Some files wouldn't delete so I used a delete on boot application.
I then emptied my trash folder.
I then cleared registry issues, did a reboot and downloaded itunes from google chrome instead of Firefox (I have no idea whether this made a difference).
Just before I set the install to start I turned off my wifi.
It seems to be working ok, with wifi back on, hasn't crashed, I'm updating all my podcasts.
What a complete pain in the a*se though. Interesting to see this thread has had over 25k views... Apple should be ashamed.
Thanks for all the help.

I have removed the (x86)
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\
- C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\
Then I repaired my failing iTunes 11.1 4. 62 & it installed smoothly & ALL is back to normal.
Once again lots of thanks MichAZ.
