Q: Help with MacBook Mid 2010

Hello!

I have a MacBook mid 2010 that was given to me.

I've used it for a while now, however I feel that it's very slow. Is it possible for me to re-install the OS and format it? I don't have a CD so I'm not quite sure what to do

Thanks!

MacBook, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

It is possible to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS using the recovery partition - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13871

This may not be necessary, however. The first thing to check is how much free space do you have on your hard drive? I drive that is full or almost so can slow down the computer.

Second, how much RAM is installed? Mavericks can run with only 2GB, but 4GB is a more realistic minimum, and if you are doing RAM intensive tasks, the more the better. See this article - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1651

Be sure you have your data backed up before you do anything.

    Best of luck.
