Logic Pro unavailable!

I've tried to download my regularly purchased Logic Pro 9 from the Apple Store.

Some time has passed since the last time I've used, but now I'd need to get it again.

The store now says it's unavailable! Weird, less than a year has passed since then.

I've contacted the support, surprisingly I've been told I could not get what I've paid for!

Not I'm eligible for a refund nor to get an upgrade to Logic X. Nothing, that's it!

I've paid 179,99 euros and I've nothing in my hands, thanks a lot Apple!

I think there has been a miscommunication somehow between yourself and Apple.

If you bought Logic Pro 9 via the App store then you simply go to the Mac App Store app, make sure you are signed in using the same Apple ID you used to purchase it from there... and look under the Purchased tab. You will find Logic Pro 9 there for you to download onto your computer.

Logic Pro 9 isn't available on the App store to purchase because it has been superseeded by Logic Pro X but you can still download and install if is you previously purchased it via the App Store.

Ive just checked my Mac App Store App and it is there under my purchased tab...

Of course I've followed the steps to get back what I've already purchased. So I went to Purchased items then clicked Logic Pro (9) and then discovered that the item isn't available anymore in the italian store. This was also confirmed by Apple Support, the same who told me - actually in a very polite manner - that I am not eligible nor for a refund (Apple policy states that once you buy then you've lost your money) nor an upgrade to Logic X. In a few words I'm talking about a 'cheat' attempted by Apple. The only way I could obtain a fresh copy of Logic is now to pay for a new copy of Logic X, version 9 is gone forever.

Did you click on the app name on the left side of the purchases tab or the button on the right? You need to do the latter.

If it already says "installed" that means it's already on your system so you can find the app and run it (it won't allow downloading an app that doesn't need to be downloaded), or remove it from your drives and then when the app store doesn't see it, then it will let you download.

What does it say in the button on the right side of the Logic 9 column?

Mike, I'm an expert user, not a newbie. I've tried everything (the button says Install, btw) and the final answer came from Apple Support, which stated what I'm reporting here. No chances to have my money back or an upgrade to Logic X. Bear in mind that I've bought Logic Pro less than a year ago, and it likely will be my last purchase in the Apple Store...

You can of course still download Logic Pro 9, it is just no longer available for sale in the store!

Log into your Mac App Store account and select "Purchases". Logic Pro 9 will show up as "Logic Pro" in the list (which is sorted by purchase date). If you don't see it, you didn't buy it with the account that is currently used (visible under the "Store" menu item)

BTW: I just downloaded Logic Pro 9 again, works fine.

What exactly does it say when you click on Install? Better yet, could you post a screenshot?

Purchased apps continue to be available for download even after they are no longer available for sale. I just tried it with an app I own that was discontinued a couple years ago. It said "installed" so I deleted it, then that button changed to "download" which worked as expected.

It's possible they made a mistake and it's temporariy not available in the italian store, if that's the case hopefully they will restore it ASAP.

Grafco,

I think Apple Support misunderstood you as Logic Pro 9 is no longer available to purchase.. but is available to download if you have already purchased it.

Again, as I said earlier.. in the US (and now the UK which i just confirmed with one of my clients) Logic Pro 9 is still available to download via the purchased tab... so maybe it is just a tempory glitch with one of Apple's Euro based App Store servers....

I also called Apple Support in the US and they confirmed that Logic Pro 9 should be available to all users worldwide via the Purchased tab if it was previously purchased through the App Store.

Effectively, I still cannot see any product page - which remains unavailable - but I'm now able to download and install it. Actually it needed more thank two clicks over that button, but it worked at last. Maybe they're following this thread? Thanks everyone.

Ah!

Yes, the Logic Pro 9 product has been removed because it is no longer available to purchase... but I guess someone messed up and also accidentally removed the ability to download it if it has already been purchased.. and they just fixed that error on your nearest Apple Server..

Anyhow.. Glad it has been resolved.. and thanks for letting us know.. Much appreciated.

Cheers!

Theodore,

Sign out of the Mac App Store

Quit the Mac App Store Application

Quit ALL apps so only Finder is running... including Safari, iTunes, Mail etc...

Relaunch the Mac App Store application

Sign In to the Mac App Store again using the Apple ID you used to purchase LP9

Wait a couple of minutes... (Important!)

Check that a new 'terms and conditions' window didn't pop up..for you to agree to...

Go to the Purchases tab and look for the Install/Download Button to the far right of the LP9 entry and click on it...

Following these steps exactly... normally fixes this issue.

Cheers..

Nigel
