Jan 23, 2014 6:12 PM in response to Kurty999by MisterNine,Hey man. It's me again. Nothing is working for me. And I'm glad that I'm not alone on this because I like to think I'm a pretty smart guy. lol
I'm pretty close to just restoring my phone to factory and calling it quits. I wonder if Jailbroken iPhones have to deal with this crap. Cus that might be another option.

Jan 26, 2014 10:49 AM in response to ReedWishby Jer Maillet,I JUST did it and i worked...
Settings - General - Reset - Erase All Content and Settings - Done
(They give you 3 options: Reset as New iPhone... Backup from iCloud.. Backup from iTunes.. To be safe, I simply did "Reset as New iPhone")

Feb 2, 2014 8:21 PM in response to Jer Mailletby masskevinjames,Wonderful. So you have to flatten your phone every few months. HERE'S THE ISSUE.
The whole purpose of this discussion is a bug with Messages (SAVED)
There's a million threads and a million fixes. What the issue is, that is over time, even if you delete messages on a regular basis, the size under usage messages will grow.
IT'S A BUG APPLE.
To fix this, I flattened my phone. The size after I flattened the phone of Messages (SAVED) was almost 0.
Then I got a few txt's tonight, which I deleted and the size has grown to 6mb.
So, as I get messages daily, even though I delete them, the size of Messages (SAVED) under usage is going to still grow.
IT'S A BUG APPLE

Feb 2, 2014 8:52 PM in response to masskevinjamesby Z63amg,I did the same thing and my messages came back as well. I truly wonder why Apple simply will not fix this bug with the updates that they release. Hopefully they will do something about this before the new galaxy comes out otherwise I will be forced to switch.

Feb 17, 2014 8:34 PM in response to ReedWishby Oz Vander,Between this issue and not being able to block "No Caller ID", its time to move onto a different phone. I am going to give it until March 1st or its 5 new (different) phones for this family. Android has "extreme blocker".

Feb 21, 2014 1:15 PM in response to ReedWishby Marchosias,Hey everyone, I have account with the Business Team..(for whatever thats worth?) I just called them, the person I talked to did not even know what I was refering too,,?? So I walked her through the Settings/General/Usage/Messages/Messages Saved.. She was not so happy when she seen she had 1.3g taken up..I told her, now you know why all of us iPhone users are Angeryyyyy with your geniuses. I asked/pleaded that she get somebody to find a fix for this,,For added fun I told her..Hey what about your spot light search? Would you like someone filing through your deleted messages ?? If I ever find out anything I will post it Immediatly. I do agree with all of you that say its an OS issue
I'll keep digging for a solution

Feb 25, 2014 9:42 AM in response to Marchosiasby Z63amg,I found the answer it's called phoneclean by imobie it's a paid program to remove the messages. One is free which doesn't remove them and one is paid. Worth every penny and easy to do. Good luck with apple fixing anything! Long story short I recovered over 4 gigs of my data with the push of a button and not having to go through all those crazy steps.

Feb 25, 2014 9:54 AM in response to Z63amgby LKS01192,Z63amg you'll have to keep doing it every so often though. It never goes away forever. Everytime you send texts, messages, videos, etc it keeps saving them so a few months from now you'll have to be deleting them. And looks like you have to pay yearly. So that's gonna he costly! I would Rather just go get a new phone that has no affiliation with apple.. And they just came out with an update yesterday and still no fix even with all the complaints. They must not want to fix it. Pieces of crap!

Feb 25, 2014 10:51 AM in response to LKS01192by Marchosias,I talked to my Apple rep yesterday, He told me Apple absolutley knows about the deleted messages problem. It is an OS screw up.. (as all of us already know) and they are on it.. it should be on the next update..I guess will we find out. At least they realize it..How long it takes is anybodys guess

Feb 25, 2014 11:04 AM in response to Marchosiasby LKS01192,There was an updated yesterday and no fix. This has been a problem for months now and they have known about it for months now. Should've been on this update.

Feb 27, 2014 4:03 PM in response to Nickc25by IronMike778,If you're not doing Method One from page 2 of this thread......do it!! I just tried it and on the first try it worked like a charm. I had exactly 1 Gig in the Saved Messages Usage area but after Method One I gained all of that back. I picked up a whole gig of space on my 16gig phone.
Thank you!!

Mar 4, 2014 9:49 AM in response to ReedWishby GlassMedic,WE shouldn't have to do this... but.... It worked for me. I did need to purchase extra $20.00 of iCloud space. Once I finially implemented the procedure - it went pretty quick with no hang-ups. Good Luck!
Open a DropBox account and back up all of your photos and videos as a safety net. (optional but for peace of mind)
Then you have to back up (everything) on your device to iCloud.
Then you have to do a delete all contents and restore as new procedure.
Then you have to do a backup restore from iCloud.
Note: you may have to purchase extra iCloud space to perform the back up...
Note: I had 4.6 gb of data that was taken up by messages (saved) and I had 0 data left to use on the phone. It's a 4s 16g iPhone. After this procedure, I had 7.5 gb data available to use and everything was working as normal (as far as I could tell but it's my daughters phone and she took it back pretty quick lol)
Note: I followed the video instruction very closely - please perform this procedure at your own risk.)
NOTE:>>>>> THIS IS THE INSTRUCTION VIDEO I USED TO RESTORE FROM iCLOUD<<<<<<

Mar 16, 2014 4:57 PM in response to Z63amgby dimitra13,I'm having the same problem. I need to clear up space-- 3.8 gb of messages-- so I tried to do a restore. Not enough room for that.
To create room, I need to restore. But to do a restore, I need more room. ITS A NASTY CYCLE.
