    Hi,

This is a brilliant fix it.

I had this MSVCR80.dll error 7 (windows error 126) appearing and could not load itunes.

it was very very very very annoying.  I am not all that computer literate, and I was going to take my laptop in to the 'experts'.

I googled the error and found this page of helpful hints.

I initially reinstalled itunes which did nothing....

I think followed the instructions of Lou Bugs and it is now fixed and running perfectly.

What I would like to know is why did itunes crash and why have we not been told about the possible crash on updating?

I am now very cautious as to if I will install any more updates at all.

Apple Co, you need to fix this up, it is not good enough.

many thanks to Lou Bugs, you have saved me a trip to the laptop doctor and a few bucks as well. greatly appreciated.

If you follow the exact instructions that turingtest2 suggests and uninstall everything in the order he says and reinstall itunes, itunes will work perfectly. I want to thank turingtest2 for supplying this info. I have windows7/x64 bit

Followed your instructions, however, apple software update will not remove. It says there is a problem with the windows installer package. Any ideas

This saved me several days of searching, I really appreciate the help! Worked like a dream after deleting EVERYTHING associated with Apple including every single file in alla applications manually. But, it was well worth the effort! Even the playcount survived, impressed!

    Thanks a billion once again!!

    Best regards

    Same problem in Windows 7

Tried the proposed "remove all Apple stuff and reboot and reinstall" several times. No luck.

    No iTunes now. Some update.

Don't they test this stuff before they pester you about updating?

    This also work100%

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components

If applicable, disconnect any iPod or iOS device and close Microsoft Outlook.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later).

Remove all of these items in the following order:

    • iTunes
    • Apple Software Update
    • Apple Mobile Device Support (see note 1 below)
    • iCloud (if present)
    • MobileMe (if present) (see note 2 below)
    • Bonjour
    • Apple Application Support
Reboot your computer. Delete any of the following folders where they can be found: (see note 3 below)
    • C:\Program Files\Bonjour
    • C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
    • C:\Program Files\iPod
    • C:\Program Files\iTunes
    also on 64-bit systems:
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes

Download the iTunes setup file and run it to install. Use an account with administrative rights. This can usually be achieved by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as... or Run as Administrator. In some cases a combination of Shift or Ctrl keys may be required for the option to show, or it may not be necessary.

If you deleted iCloud and reinstalling iTunes doesn't automatically reinstall it visit iCloud Control Panel.
