Feb 3, 2014 1:17 PM in response to yaniqueby Treejumper,Mine is more of a question than an answer. I downloaded the trial Mackeeper and, suspecting something suspicious went on here to find out more. I've followed all the 2012 version uninstall instructions, but just want to double check that there's nothing else I need to do....advice please.

Feb 18, 2014 5:51 AM in response to jimmywong1111by Tomdenny,Thanks Jimmy. Currently my Mac is running quite slow, which is why Mackeeper seemed so appealing when it said I have problems and identified them all. Are there any other reputible applications or software that can 'clean up my mac'?

Feb 18, 2014 5:54 AM in response to Tomdennyby Allan Eckert,No. They are all crapware with MacKeeper being the worst of the lot.
How much free space does your Mac have on the hard disk drive?

No, do not install anything that claims to be able to 'clean' 'optimize' or 'protect' your Mac, they are all unreliable, some are just plain dangerous (MacKeeper for one)
Instead try to find the issue, insufficient disk space is one area that will slow your Mac down, insufficient Ram for your useage is another, 3rd party apps are also a common cause.
Make a new user account, make it an Admin and then reboot into it, check the performance while logged into it and post back.

Feb 18, 2014 6:05 AM in response to Csound1by Tomdenny,I'll give that a go csound. I have recently bought an external harddrive and backed everything up using time machine, so if anything goes wrong at least I can reboot
