I updated my pages app from 4.3 to 5.0 on January 28.  It has since then reverted back to the 4.3 version and will not allow me to work on any documents saved in the 5.0 version unless I update my software.  But it shows at the app store that my software has already been updated.  How do I re-update my pages app to 5.0?

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.

Pages 5 is in your Applications folder.

Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.

You are alternately opening the wrong versions.

Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.

Pages 5 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.

Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.

Anything that is saved to iCloud is also converted to Pages 5 files.

All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.

Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.

Note: Apple has removed over 90 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

Archive/trash Pages 5, after exporting all Pages 5 files to Pages '09 or Word .docx, and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

Peter, have been trying to find you by posting a new question but maybe it was stupidly worded.

I followed your advice and moved the pages I had created in Pages 5 to Pages 09.First trached Pages 5 but hen could not open anything so put it back.  All is working well.

Minor irriitant; the icon on my list of recently opened shows the Pages 5 logo.

Pages 5 app is in my list of apps but its icon is removed from the dock and i have only the old 09 icon.

Therefore I do have Pages 5 on my system but it is not in use but waits until Apple gets its act together and releases a decent Pages.

Only problem is that I got daily reminders to update. I shut off automatic check for updates for a few days but  put it back again because i might miss an  OSX update that is important.

    Comments please?

BTW I can only sign in on Safari. FF seems to have come under Apple curse!
