I have tried all the usual suspects I can think of, after having used up all the suggestions on the forums and on the apple help pages.
None of them work.
"Inset page break" is greyed out.
If I add or remove rows in the table to force a new page, the results are unpredictable and don't end up doing what I want.
This is Mavericks Pages 5.1after all.

You can't break a table, this is for a Page Break for text in the document layer.
"This is Mavericks Pages 5.1 after all" is a rather unfortunate expression, as it does not imply anything good.

Many thanks Peter!
You are indeed right - Mavericks is very unfortunate, in my experience.
I really liked Snow Leopard, my introduction to Mac. Mavericks has made me question the wisdom of staying with Mac. The best argument for staying is Windows 8.1...even more unfortunate!

Many of us are questioning the wisdom let alone the safety of staying with Apple.
I am off to my third Linux SIG meeting tomorrow and am experimenting with different dialects.
This is a laugh! Wonder if it was discontinued under pressure from Apple?
