Q: managing multiple devices

Hope somebody can help with this. I have multiple devices in the family that I want to have control over because some are my Children's. At the moment each device is setup for iCloud which I only really require for the 'find my iphone'.

Having setup restrictions and disabled picture so far.

We use iTunes on the one iMac only and decide what music/apps are required for each device and if the children want an app I have to enter my credentials.

Everything seems to work (as far as I can see) apart from my contacts appearing on other units when they go to message, I understand this is because each is configured with my details with iMessage uses.

I'd like to know how to stop this happening or some solution please. I need a way of managing these multiple devices under one account with an element of privacy.

Right, so each unit is using it's own account now in iCloud settings and also contacts show uniquely when I start a text message I am still presented with my daughters friends names when I start type names in the To: field.

PS - is there any help around this place or not?

You need to sync each device with a different Contacts source. I do this with Google for my family's devices.

This is because they are all syncing to the same contacts, probably on your computer. Each device needs to sync to different contacts, i.e. Google or different accounts on your iMac.

Sorry, I meant to say, when I check contacts on each devices, all seem to be correct.

The issue is when I goto messages, when I type in a name, e.g. starting with K, it shows not only my contacts but those on my daughters list (I do not see these entries in my contacts).

I cannot see any settings in iTunes relating to contacts or my iMac

With the device connected to iTunes, under the Info tab, see what's checked under Contacts.

I've never seen that... should look like below, or similar. Close and reopen iTunes and/or reboot your computer.

I guess you're syncing your contacts with iCloud?

Settings > iCloud > Contacts > ??

Yep, but I have the contacts unticked on all devices. As I said, the contacts on each device look ok, it's only in the To: field that I see the people my daugter has text and vice versa.

Never really noticed because it was only me and the wife that have iPhones, then the Daughters got them and I signed them all in when setting up with my account. Most of the issues I've had are sorted, e.g. photo sharing which was just the tick for said option, but this names thing appearing when messaging has puzzled me. I'm not even sure if it is a contacts issue.

The contacts might have been ticked at some point, but I was expecting it was simply a tick box that was this issue.
