Q: i have had itunes on my computer for ever. now that that there was an update i can not open itunes or redownload it!

Do you get an error message when you try to open iTunes? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

It says failed to start because msvcr80.dll was not found and to reinstall the application but it will not resin stall

Then it says error7  windows error 126

Could you walk us through what's currently happening when you try to install iTunes?

I just click he download button. After several seconds a bar pulls up to save save as or cancel. I click save and it disappears. Then almost immediately another box pops up and says iTunes64setup_exe (12) couldn't be  downloaded. That's all no error messages

Try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

If you'd prefer not to install a different browser on your machine, perhaps try downloading and saving a copy of the installer to a different PC. (If you're on a 32-bit Windows system, try to download on a different 32-bit Windows system.) Copy the iTunesSetup.exe installer to an external hard-drive, or a large-enough thumb drive or burn it to a CD-R. Carry the installer back to your PC, copy the installer to your hard drive. (Don't run the install from the ExHD, thumb or CD-R.) Start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe file.
