So, I'm done for now.  I restored my new iPad & my iPhone to a backup before the problem.

    I'm using iOS 7.0.4 & Pages 1.7.2.

With an empty iCloud, I did notice two erroneous files on the iPad when I did the restore.  They were old files I created but never made it to the iCloud.  I'm assuming they are the files that caused the crash.

I'm pretty confident I could upgrade to Pages 2.0.1 but why make the change.  From what I read, there is no compelling reason to upgrade.

If things are working well with Pages now, I see no reason to upgrade either. Thanks for the update and good luck moving forward.

    Demo,

FYI, I had to upgrade to the new version of Pages.

Since all the docs were opened in the iCloud, they were converted to the new format.  When I tried to open the files with the previous version of Pages it said I needed to update the software.  I did and I have had no problems after the 2 erroneous files were deleted...if that makes sense.  If you want further explanation, I'm here.

That's interesting. Now FYI on my end .....

I've been trying to troubleshoot my own issue with Pages and I took a small dose of my own medicine meaning that I have been deleting files from iCloud, opening them up on my Mac in the latest version of Pages, and replacing the files in iCloud. I am still running Pages 2.0 on my iPad and iPhone because I tried to update to 2.0.1 on the phone last night and Pages just kept crashing.

So what I'm saying is that I haven't updated Pages on my iDevices yet I can open my documents in iCloud and on my Mac. I should probably just bite the bullet an delete everything  in iCloud and start all over again - one file at a time like I suggested that you do, but I was hoping that I could do it this way. I do have copies of all of my Pages files on my Mac so deleting from iCloud should not be an issue. I just don't want to take the time to do it.

I am having some other issues with my iPad. My battery isn't lasting as long as it should so I restored to factory settings last night then restored from the backup. I didn't notice much improvement today - if any at all. I may be starting all over again with in the next week or so. A clean install and rebuild the iPad with my apps and other content.

I had this problem today.  My solution might not work for you.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Documents & Data.  Turn Documents & Data on for Pages.

Go to Settings > Pages.  Turn on Use iCloud.

Go to Pages.  All my documents appeared after waiting a few seconds.  (Be plugged in and on wifi, if it helps.)

    Done.
