    You purchased a carrier locked iPhone, locked to a Canadian carrier. The only way to use it on other networks is to contact the Canadian carrier it is locked to to see if they offer unlocking, & if you qualify.

    Either your iPhone is locked to a Canadian operator or the Indian Sim you tried is not supported by the iPhone.

     

    the more likely cause is the first one, that is, your iPhone is locked to a Canadian telephone carrier.
