I was using the search function of my iPhone to find a song to play and I saw a second, similar song which should not be there.   I plugged it into my Mac and checked the playlists that are synchronized, and that song isn't on them.    So I next went to my music app on my iPhone and checked each playlist that I synchronize and didn't find it there.   So I checked the Genius Playlist and found it there.   Apparently I have a bunch of songs a Genius playlist that doesn't show up on my iTunes  (I have some unchecked Genius mixes).   It's tough enough organizing songs to fit on my iPhone that I don't want extra songs taking up space.

I also have two "Purchased" playlists, one empty and the other with songs.   I tried selecting the unwanted song and swiping it away without success.    I *did* get rid of the two "Purchased" playlists that way and intend to do the same thing with the "Genius Playlist", but thought I would check here first.   Is it possible to delete just one song from that playlist?    How did that song get there?

Somehow I had a bunch of obscure albums checked to be synchronized, but not this one.   I wonder if those were from free Starbucks' songs.

My iPhone is 4S, and all of my software is current.

iPhone 4S, Other OS, IOS 7
