Q: Massive problem with audio interface

Hi there.

I recently bought a brandnew iMac 27" Haswell i7. I encountered problems with my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 audio interface. These are buzzing, clicking and noise immediately or after 3 minutes or so. I tried everything, re-installed the driveres several times, nothing, really nothing worked.

Then I bought an RME Babyface audio interface - and guess what? It's the same problem. I also have a massive sound noise after some minutes or the recording channel in Garage Band drops completely.

What is wrong here? I already tried using a different power plug, tried all USB ports, turned off WiFi, HDD sleep mode, etc. Nothing worked.

Do you have an idea?

I appeciate your help,

Adrian.

Alas the beta is not solving audio glitching with my Apogee Ensemble.

But Apple are sending me out a replacement SSD based Mac Mini.

Just got the Apollo Twin.  Everything works flawlessly plus this thing sounds great.  I have a Focusrite Sapphire 56 and still had some problem with pops and clicks even with the 13C59 beta.  I will use the light pipe from from the Focusrite extra inputs but will probably now use the Twin for everything.

13C59 has solved all my issues with late 2013 iMac i7 3TB Fusion Drive.

My Finder works and I do not have issues with sleep mode.

At last.... A system that works!

13C59 doesn't solve my problems with M2tech HiFace Two.

After a few minutes, the sound was silenced.

I managed to change my 3TB FD for a SSD and I upgraded to the 13C59 beta but I am still having the audio issues.  I am convinced it is a problem with the Thunderbolt converting to Firewire.

    Oh dear

Replacement MM on the way with SSD drive

Apple would be so smart if they could release and audio friendly OS

Like SNOW LEOPARD used to be

I wonder if, when M2tech releases a Mavericks friendly driver, as others have done, your problems will be gone. Do they have anything to say about that?

Apogee say that their current drivers are no good for Fusion drive owners

But Apple assures them that the proper release of 10.9.2 WILL fix the problems

Hey guys I'm having a similar problem. I have a 27 inch late 2013 iMac with i7 16GB RAM with 1 TB Fusion drive. I'm trying to run my Digi 003 rack with a slaved Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 through Logic Pro X but I get nothing. I will get some playback for about a minute or two and then I get dead silence when the 1394 Host light turns off. Called apple and spoke with "Dave". He tried to walk me through it and had to call me back in 20 minutes to do research of his own because even he did not know. He called back and all he could offer as help was "open a case with apple or wait for apple to make an update". SO FRUSTRATED. Downloading 10.9.2 beta now. Hopefully it works

    OMG are you.

reason i say OMG is that ive had all the same issues with my previous late 2013 Imac i7 1TB FD running my Saffire Pro 40, audio dropped after 20 seconds or less, installed Beta of 10.9.2 stopped audio drop outs but then picked up audio glitches, so wasnt a complete fix IMO.

anyhow just got a refund and have ordered a new i7 with 512GB SSD, thinking that this would solve my problem, or at least that's what it sounded like after reading the many threads around the net on this topic.

so are you still having problems and what are they ? what card are you running ?

an have you spoken to apple yet ?

    cheers

    Glen

HEy Everybody! The latest 10.9.2 Beta has fixed all my problems. I'm running an iMac 27-inch 3.2 Intel Core, 1TB Fusion Drive, 16gigs Ram... i use the RME Babyface and Ableton Live 9 Suite with various plug-ins. I had been using the external backup drive which has been a pain in the *** as far as transferring sessions over and being able to use all the same plug-ins. I downloaded Beta 13C59 yesterday and have had ZERO problems for at least 4 hours of recording, playback, rhapsody listening...

    FINALLY!

Now time to make an album!

Same issue here on 1 week old Late 2013 iMac 27" with 1TB Fusion Drive.
Skype audio distortion and Mavericks crashing.

Apple Care Tech support know nothing about this!!

Tried different headsets, problem only apparent with USB headsets.

Issue not there when I boot from clone external drive, so looks like the Fusion drive/drivers.

Installed Latest Mavericks Beta Build 13C62 and that seems to have solved the issue, audio is now clear and it hasn't crashed yet.

I'm encountering issues with my Apogee One.

Tried to record my voice on Garageband the result was an audio region with the lowest audio quality ever recorded - buzzy, glitchy and with the highest latency ever matched.

I encountered issues using Skype too - I use the Apogee internal mic to chat.

It works at first but then, on the other side, they can't hear me anymore so I'm forced to switch to the internal iMac mic.

On the whole it seems the input has issues as the output works fine - I plug my earphone to the Apogee and hear well everything.

Sometimes happens that the entire audio (input and output) freezes after using Apogee internal mic - at that point I restart the mac.
