Did you check to see if you have an AirPrint compatible printer?

Double click on your home button and see if the Airprint app is still running. If it still is swipe up on the page to close it. After that pull the power plug on your printer and wait a minute to plug it back in then Reset your router and iPad. Then try again.

You are sure there is nothing pending in the print queue? And that both the printer and iPad are connected to the same Wifi network? Your router firmware is up to date?

No, they should be on the same. If you have a dual-band router you need to make sure they are on the same band.
