Q: Sound loss when I unplug headphones

This has been happening for a while. Oftentimes after I use my headphones and unplug them, I get no sound from computer output, and no sound when I plug them back in. After I restart, the audio works again. I've also done PRAM, but the audio loss still happens over and over again. Is there a way to resolve this?

    Hello Angeverlasting,

It sounds like your audio is not switching from headphone to internal unless you restart your computer. I recommend resetting the SMC next on the computer:

Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964

    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
    3. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
    4. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
    5. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
      Note
: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Next I suggest performing a Safe Boot, and then retest the issue:

    All the best,
