Q: Tried to delete Time Machine backups from Finder.

Now the backups are stuck in the trash and I cannot move them back to the folder to delete them properly... Help!

MacBook Air, iOS 7.0.4, Backup drive is an External LaCie

    That's not how to delete backups.

    Open Time Machine, select the "gear", then select Delete backups.

     

    See if you can undo the delete to Trash by control-clicking the item in trash and selecting Put Back.

    If it doesn't work, re-boot and then try to empty the Trash

    Hi Tony,

    Thanks for your response...

    I found the correct way after moving most files to the trash. 

    I don't have the option to put back when clicking control.  Wish I did.

    I've changed the permissions on each backup to Read Write in case it was a permissions issue.  Not So.

    When trying to delete, i get an unexpected error (code -22) notice from the trash.

    Everything has been rebooted a few times as well.

    Is there a way to access & purge the Trash through unix?
