Abosulutely Right. Now they are going to loose there customers to android if they dont do something. Even if it is not comaptible (hypothetical situation) they can still remove a few animations or something.

On Android its even worse. iOS 7 is currently on 80% of iOS devices, yet people are still crying about iOS not being availble on enough devices.

The latest Android system, Kitkat is currently on 2% of devices.

75% of Android users are still on a system over 18 months old.

80% of iOS users are on iOS 7, a system just 4 months old.

Seriously.... What is there to be upset about? If having the most up to date operating system is the most important thing then switching to Android is obviosuly a bad idea.

Ahah, would like to know where you found out that information..

And you know why people cant be bothered to update? It's because you can still download the apps on the older versions of android unlike that stupid 12 days of chirstmas thing on the app store where you have to have ios 7.

I agree with you. I've had and iPod touch for 3 years and when they released iOS 7 I was hoping to get it but instead I still have to put up with iOS 6 and some of the apps I have can only run on iOS 7 which is ridiculous so I can only have 10 apps that I can actually use!! Including ones that come with it. So apple you either bring iOS 7 out on all iPod touches or your company will start going down hill!!

THIS is the real problem. I don't mind not being able to get iOS 7. However I am currently unable to get apps which require iOS 7. If the apps were compatible with older OS there would be no problem.

Exactly! But they are compatible, apple just say they aren't so that people buy the new devices.

Well, that's a bunch of BS!  I've been trying to download some podcasts and kept getting the message that I needed the podcast app.  When I tried to install the app, I got the message about needing iOS 7.

So, anyone have any suggestion for an app I can use for downloading podcasts from iTunes directly to my iPod?  It seems like apple should keep supporting the 4th gen touch.  I don't know about the rest of you but when I spend $200+ for an item, I use it until it breaks.

Well, I've always wondered why Apple's logo has a bite out of it.

They're a.) greedy and b.) care nothing for customer satisfaction.

I didn't want an iPod touch to begin with; it was a gift to me long ago, so I can't complain.

Mine was a gift also and before it was even a year old the power button broke.  I think the iPod has gone downhill.  My first one, a 2nd gen Nano lasted me for five years until I dropped it in water.  I then bought another nano (5th gen) - and in less than a year the click wheel broke.  They sent me a refurbished Nano and, shortly after the 90 day warranty was up, it started acting up - it would lock up and I would have to do a hard reset to get it working again.

This is normal, Old devices gets leaves behind. It is just impossible for Apple yo keep up with all devices. Plus, I am sure of that apple has tried putting the ios7 on ipod touch4, however the experience is just too bad i suppose. Dont forget that the ONE thing that apple focus the most is iser experience, they will not release anything that delivers a really bad user experience. I have used the ipod 1, iphone 3g,3gs,4s and all the way now to 5. My ipod 1 and iphone 3g and 3gs has been great devices, and i believe that they do not get ios7? and now, if you think ios devices are expensive, just to tell you, i am a student and i get my iphones from working, plus you can sign contracts with phone carriers to get free iphones, i dont see the point of something it too expensive.

To me Apple's reason for not letting people who have iPod touch 4th gen was to try to get them to buy the iPod touch 5th gen! To me that is unfair! I got the iPod touch 4 the gen was because I didn't have enough money to buy the 5th gen and now they are telling me that I have to buy the 5the gen anyways so I can have better quality and the iOS 7 update! To me that is very unfair! They are going to lose a lot of customers to this! :(

U r totally right! I am only 11 and I was really looking forward to this update! My sister had a iPhone 4 and she got the update and I saw it and it looked really cool and I was so excited that it was going to come out for the iPod but it was only for the iPod 5th gen! I am so upset and disappointed in Apple!

I'm sorry but I have lost complete faith in Apple. I bought my iPod Touch 4G last year, and now I won't be getting the latest update. Sorry guys, I'm buying the Nexus 5. At least there, I know it'll have updates beyond official releases due to custom roms. Apple blows, Android is where it's at, and not Samsung Android, Google Pure Android.
