Q: Can you set up AirDrop to share from a MacBook Air on Mavericks with an iPhone 5s?

Just trying to transfer some photos from my iPhone 5s to a McBook Air running Mavericks. Using the obvious methods, the devices aren't detecting each other. Is there a trick?

Agreed. Mac Airdrop works Mac to Mac, iOS is only to iOS.

That really is a bummer. It's in the category of unbelieveable. I've got $1800 invested in my 2 devices from the same company and they won't talk to each other. BUMMER

They will talk to each other many different ways (USB, WiFi, iCloud, Dropbox, box.com, Airsharing, Documents to Go, etc). Just not using Airdrop.

Airdrop works fine (El Cap) from MacBook to iPad and iPhone, fast too! Screen has to be unlocked on all devices.
