Q: Message.app crashes on 10.9.2
I've been unable to use message in OSX for the past few days. I didn't install any upgrades between it working and not working. It seems to crash when I click certain things. I think it is an issue with displaying the text, as a conversation may glitch so that the text is displayed in large times new roman (or some similar looking serif font). I didn't change the text setting myself and sometimes it will display the message properly in Helvetica then glitch, display it in the serif font and crash. I cannot access the preferences anymore either, so I can't even change the font I'm using.
The app appears to function properly, as it will receive all my new messages. I can even send messages if I do so before it crashes, however, the messages I send will not appear in the chat window and seems random as to whether it will display those from others.
I've tried troubleshooting with almost every thread I could find. So far I've tried:
1. Booted in safemode
2. Restoring the app from a time machine backup (I wouldn't let me delete the previous instance of the app, but I launched the new one from the desktop)
3. Deleting all the preference data and save state files, in the Library (Preferences, ByHost and Message Folder)
4. I've deleted all the messages that appear open, which makes it stable, but when new messages come in they render incorrectly or crash the app.
2. I've tried opening it in a guest and new user account and it works fine there.
So I've finally caved and decided to ask myself. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

The database at /Users/Derrick/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Sources/4A8271F5-2677-4A09-9ADE-9783D9ADB0AC/AddressBook-v2 2.abcddb is corrupted
Back up all data.
Quit Contacts if it's running. Force quit if necessary.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/Sources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder named "Sources" should open. Inside it there should be a subfolder with a long name that matches the one in the error message. Move that subfolder, and only that one, to the Trash.
Relaunch the application. The data should synchronize with the server.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
