Q: Mavericks and MacMini - after sleep mode windows resized and glued to left upper corner

Hi!

I have MacMini and HDMI monitor. When I go to bed, I use sleep mode and off monitor using power button (I don't like standby light). When I woke up, I press on my touchpad to wake up my MacMini, after that I stand up and turning on monitor. All works fine, until I installed Mavericks. Now, after turning on, all windows changed size to very small and glued to left upper corner. I can't resize or move window. Only shutdown app can help. But, I can't shutdown Finder, I need reboot MacMini. It's very annoying.

As I understand, this problem appear, when I wake up MacMini before turning monitor on. When I turned on monitor and after that woke up MacMini, windows don't change his sizes.

What can I do to solve this problem?

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4), OS X Mavericks

Yup, as KOT said, take heart. It's certainly not a hardware issue and you definitely don't need to spend money for a different long term solution.

Apple's HDMI support is reliable in the vast majority of applications, and was for your Mac mini as well until this bug. I'm sure having worked in IT for so long you're very well acquainted with bugs; this one is limited to a specific port on a specific machine for a specific OS revision, and will get fixed.

I agree a general acknowledgement and promise of attention to the problem would make consumers feel more confortable and valued in the meanwhile.

Well...not too optimistic. Just downloaded the update the other day and though I know it primarily dealt with SSL issues, was hoping that the HDMI fix might have been hidden in there also. Guess not. Just finished resizing and relocating all my windows after turning my monitor off for a bit.

    Frustrating to say the least.

Interesting because the 10.9.2 update did solve the issues I was having. I am on a MacBook Pro though so maybe it was a slightly different issue on the Mac mini.

My problem was generally one window - most commonly Outlook - shrinking up and docking in the upper right corner of my laptop screen after my machine went to sleep. I could never get the window to "undock" although I could size it. Since the update that has not happened. It was a daily occurance and it has not happened since.

That's too bad, Dave. I think the update has indeed fixed the issue on my 2011 Mac mini. Had the problem regularly before and haven't had it since.
