Q: How can I use my airport extreme base station to connect my PowerMac G4 mdd to my neighbor's wireless internet?

I recently bought and Airport Card and an Airport Extreme base station with the intent to access my neighbor's wireless internet with my PowerMac G4. I have the password, I enter it, it says I'm connected but I'm not. Very confused.

TenFourFox is the most up to date browser for our PPCs, they even have G4 & G5 optimized versions...

I'd avoid vesrion 24 though, as it no longer supports plug-ins like Flash.

SeaMonkey seems pretty fast also, with many options, like eMail, Web page builder, etc...

Might also look into iCab & OmniWeb versions.

Furthermore, perhaps this all is a update and Internet browser sort of thing. My mdd has not seen the light of day since 2010 so could that be it??? I was told by a tech person friend that if I simply update my browser to a firefox version that works for my computer, it may finally work. The odd thing is my mac has no problem catching all the servers in my airea and it says it's logged on to the server I want but when I open the web browser (sufari) I get a air report stating that it cant find the server.

So could that be the problem??

If so, what version of firefox should I download, and what updates should I look into? perhaps I need to update my airport? Or Os x

If this is the case links to the right places would be greatly appreciated

What other updates would you like?

Though I can run virtually any OSX version, I prefer 10.4.11, then 10.5.8, then onIntelMac 10.6.8

Well, depends on the AEBS, some had both a WAN & Lan port, some just a WAN port... WAN port is only to be plugged into a Modem, LAN port is for Ethernet connection to a a Computer or Router.

I think what you want is to use the Wifi on your Mac or AEBS to connect to the neighbor's Access Point.

Yeah exactually. There's two ports on the Airport, one for the modem, and the other says computer on it... So that's kind of odd. Me being the dummy that I am I'm plugged into the one that says computer on it. So the one I want is the modem into my tower, ha And now I know what WAN and LAN is to. Ok well start with that today thanks for the help so much. All be back soon I'm sure

Wide Area Network, (WAN), is connected to Yours or a Neighbor's Modem, Local Area Network, (LAN), connects to your computer or Router to distribute the connection the WAN port has to the outside world.
