Dec 2, 2013 9:45 PM in response to barbara424by MeredithGH,I cannot believe twisting the corners a little worked like that! Unbelievable! Thank you so much for the help.
My screen fully came back!
Does anyone know why it goes to black like that? And why the twist works?
Crazy but amazing!

Dec 24, 2013 8:56 AM in response to barbara424by Ian973,12 Clips, safeguard this actually works. Was very dubious off kneeling on it as I weigh nearly 15 stone. I just put it screen down on a rubber mat on a table top and pressed the back firmly with my finger tips. Screen works fine!

Dec 30, 2013 3:15 AM in response to Riley stewartby gt-sailor,Riley Stewart you are a stud when it comes to strange but effective solutions.
Like everyone else here I was dubious and tried every other alternative. But without an Apple store within 200 miles of me I finally tried your method. Simply amazing.
I thank you and when my daughter wakes up she will elevate you upon her pedestal of heroes for this solution . She was in tears last night because she thought her Ipad was lost forever. Thank you so much for this solution.
And to the apple techs that say reboot it or buy a new ipad----go to **** you inconsiderate money grabbing (*&^%$# ********!!!

Jan 23, 2014 12:22 PM in response to barbara424by MaestroAl,Amazing. Thank you! I cannot believe this worked. Not something you want to do but whacking the daft thing on my knee brought it back to life. Now My daughter won't be quite so morose :-D

Feb 6, 2014 6:14 PM in response to Riley stewartby TC200,Nice one. Kneeing it did not work for me, neither did the twist. What did work - I held the laptop on diagonal corners, screen facing me, and applied pressure with the thumbs of each hand to 'bow' the device a little. Worked like a charm, thanks!

Feb 23, 2014 6:13 AM in response to barbara424by Tox Rowlang,Yep, another success here. I tried restore etc, and tried smacking the ipad hard and twisting to no avail. But just gave it another try - bringing the ipad sharply down on my knee - the contact point was on the back just under the headphone jack. It came back to life! All fine, thanks very much Riley

Mar 7, 2014 4:46 AM in response to Riley stewartby cherrywopie,THANK YOU for suggesting this divine method.
I was on the verge of tears trying to fix my mom's iPad1. I brought the iPad down on my knee a few times but it didn't work at all (my knees hurt) until I specifically targeted the area below the headphone jack. The trick is to bring down the ipad on your knee with full-force and the first try it worked.

Mar 8, 2014 5:29 PM in response to barbara424by dhomza,Thank god I found this post, I was freaking out because the warrenty expired last week. Kneeing it worked for me too. It took 2 tries I didn't do it that hard the first time, second time left my knee a little sore, but it works!! I did it right under the headphone jack too.
