Q: Plug in failure in Safari

After updating Adobe Flash Player version 12, I can't upload photos on Facebook due to an error message that reads 'plug in failure'.

Ive uninstalled flash anddeleted all the old versions and reinstalled everything and it still reads 'plugin failure.'

How do I solve this?

Thank you

I've erased and reinstalled. However, the computer is hanging after reinstalling.

    That can't be good.

It went through to 100% then it hung.

If you still have problems after a clean installation, with no wired peripherals connected, then there's an internal hardware fault.

Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional — ask if you need guidance.

If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.

Keeping your confidential data secure during hardware repair

Apple also recommends that you deauthorize a device in the iTunes Store before having it serviced.

*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.

It took 2 attempts but its wiped clean and reinstalled with only the User and Computer and Network folders. No applications and others folder.

I hope everything works ok from here.

Thank you for all your help = )

FWIW, I have had the "Plug-in Failure" on all youtube vids. since installing the new Flash Player 13.0.0.182. My laptop, running same version of Mac OSx and Safari as my iMac, plays youtube vids with no problems. So, I checked the version of Flash Player on the MacBook Pro and found it is running Flash Player 12.0.0.77. I uninstalled Flash Player 13.0.0.182 using the "Flash Player install Manager" under "Utilities". Then I installed FlashPlayer 12.0.0.77 from Adobe's archive page. Works great!

    Hope this helps

There is an issue with Macs from 2006 and 2007 running the latest version of Flash Player (v.13).  This page http://forums.adobe.com/message/6288150 explains the fault, and provides links to the Flash Player uninstaller and Flash Player 12 installer.

Who are you?  dominic23.  I followed your instructions, put to delete all and then came to a browser that asked me to join adobe for $9.90 per month, thanks a lot, do you earn money from this?  Also I get completely frustrated when I go onto a website and it uses non english language i.e.. American english, your language has nothing to do with the english language.  It often doesn't recognise words that I use i.e. rubbish, I have to use the word trash, which in english means -to ruin something-  How do I get adobe back with out paying money.  You should warn someone that it's going to cost money.
