Q: Compressor 4.1 adding custom default location settings

I have about 8 different resolutions in which I need to export about 5 videos.

Why can't I select my 640x360 folder for all of the videos of this file size?

Instead, my options are "source, movies, and desktop".

What kind of bullcrap is this?  I'm supposed to sort these by hand?  What's the point of having the ability to select my export location if I'm only allowed to choose between 3 useless options?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

Right click on the name in the Location (destination) field and from the dropdown>Location choose Other.

On 35 different videos with 7 different export settings for each?

    Not a chance in ****.

Why can't we set all 640x360 to go automatically into the 640x360 folder EVERY TIME.  It shouldn't take 837405983458 mouse clicks to organize your files.

Here you have the ability to change the PERMANENT settings... why not offer the same option:

I was actually hoping that there was somthing that I was missing... instead of the clearer reality that they allow us to choose export location file by file, instead of allowing us to set the folder.

I also don't know if apple reads these, but I certainly hope they do.

HEY APPLE.... THANKS FOR THE USELESS 3 FOLDER SELECTION FOR MY DEFAULT EXPORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust me, Mr W, shouting at Apple on these boards is a total waste of bandwidth.

Anyhow, duplicate a bunch of presets and modify them however you need them. Bring the whole bunch of them into the batch window and select all. Then repeat the steps that I gave in the first post. The destinations will be changed as a batch change.

I think I had the same problem, and at the top of the left column I clicked Locations.  This allowed me to add Custom locations over and above the 3 basic locations that Apple provides.  Once done these can be selected in each of your custom settings, and this location is remembered every time you choose that setting.

You can add a folder to the list of locations (which is then selectable as a default in preferences). Just discovered this today. The key is to switch to the locations tab on the left sidebar (where the settings tab is). At the bottom of this tab, there's a plus button that you can use to add a custom location.

Then it will show up in the list of available export locations when you right click on an output and will also now be selectable as a default location in the preferences pane.
