Q: Is an internet connection be required to use an HTML widget in an iBook?

I would like to create an interactive workbook using HTML widgets. Now I realize that an internet connection will be required to email responses, but can the widget be used without an active connection and the email sent later? Or no email at all and just save the responses to the workbook?

This workbook will only be used by my students and not published on the iBookStore.

Widgets display the content you insert into them. if you use links to webpages...it seems obvious they can only be active of the is an open internet connection.

It is not easy to offer advice without knowing how the widgets are created and how they are scripted to achieve your aims. The obvious solution is to creat a  "test" widget to test the options you want to offer.

Widgets can use the localstorage APIs to store content and reload them on the next available launch.

I haven't tried using email within a widget, but I noticed that Bookry claims their Quiz Builder widget (http://bookry.com/author/widget/library/) can email results.
