Q: Failure transferring itunes library from one laptop to another
Hi, I've just bought a new laptop and I've saved all my music folders over to my new laptop, including a folder called itunes with various files in it.
I've tried to import my library from my old laptop using homesharing, but it keeps failing because my old laptop keeps crashing (the reason I'm replacing it).
I can't seem to get itunes to see the itunes library folder that I can see using explorer (windows 8). Does anyone know how I can easily transfer it or get it to see what I've already transferred across.
Both laptops are authorised and homesharing is turned on. I have an external hard-drive I can use if that would work.
Please help, I'm totally lost!!
Thanks
Sarah

Stop using HomeSharing to transfer media, I've yet to see anyone report that as working successfully.
Assuming all the media is in the iTunes folder on the original computer, copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder to the new computer.
About the iTunes library files
Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder:
- Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
- Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
- Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
- Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
- Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
