Q: My iPhone 4 is stuck on the "Connect to iTunes screen" after trying to update to iOS 7.0.4! Help!

I was attempting to update my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 7.0.4 via my computer after I plugged it in to create a backup copy and something went wrong before it could finish and I recieved an error message. Now my phone is stuck on the "Connect to iTunes screen". I've tried everything to reset & restore my phone with no luck!

I have:

-Restarted my computer

-Updated iTunes to most current version

-Turned phone on and off several times, waiting up to a half hour before turning on (to be greeted directly with apple logo then the connect to iTunes screen)

-Turned on, turned on and held home button (nothing happens)

-My computer is NOT recognizing my device at ALL! But when I plugged my boyfriends iPhone in, it detected it no problem.

I tried calling my phone from the other phone and it goes straight to voicemail. I am super frustrated! Does anybody know what is going on?

Put the device in DFU mode (google it) and restore.

Same problem here "connect to iTunes screens" while upgrading to IOS 7.04

Now iTunes wants to restore my iphone - losing all my photos etc.

Please - how can I prevent this to happen? I don't want to make a restore to install this upgrade.

Last night I tried to update to IOS 7.0.4 and I am having the same problem.  I have tried to restore my iphone via itunes and I keep get a message saying " The software for the iphone "iphone" was corrupted during download." "Disconnect and reconnect, then try again.  Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later.  Please tell me how to fix this.  I definitely need my phone to work.

If the device is showing the "Connect to iTunes" screen it is in recovery mode.  There is no user data on the device at that point, therefore nothing to backup/salvage/recover.

For what reason was an update attempted without first ensuring that all the personal data on the device was backed up?

I was able to restore my phone!!!

I called Apple and they said there was nothing more I could do. I called my carrier Verizon and was able to get my computer to recognize my device after trying this-

    Solution:

After trying EVERYTHING this is the ONLY thing that worked-

I took the USB connector cable out of the USB port it was in, and tried another one on the otherside of my laptop and iTunes was able to discover my phone in recovery mode. My phone was reset and everything is fine ( thank gosh for backup copies!)

Fortunately I had a backup which was too old. Full restore and back-up was indeed needed to get the iPhone up and running.

Never happend before while upgrading. And this is not even a major upgrade.

This worked for me. Just switched USB ports and it recognized the Ipad and I could restore.

Hi, having exactly the same problem! Everything and I mean everything is stored on my iphone 4 and 'cause it's well and truly stuck ( even tried using a different port ) which hasn't had any effect, I've resorted to having it restored back to 'factory settings'.  Fingers crossed that will work

THIS ACTUALLY HELPED ME!! THANK YOU!

I did something else too. I couldn't start iTunes with my iphone connected to the computer. So I disconnected it, started iTunes, en THEN I connected the iPhone (in a different USB port). It was like magic! Everything started working. My iphone was restored to its masics and then I was asked to restore from iCloud or iTunes

IMPORTANT: hope you backed up your iPhone previously, otherwise there won't be anything to backup

    Good luck everyone!
