Mar 8, 2014 10:32 AM in response to vicexpressby Tesserax,To administer the older 802.11g AirPort base stations from a PC, you will need version 5.6.1 of the AirPort Utility for Windows.

Mar 9, 2014 12:30 PM in response to Tesseraxby vicexpress,This doesn't work for me. My APE was purchased in 2004. When I run the setup, I have an ethernet connection from my router to the base station. The update appears to work but when the APE restarts, the solid green light never comes on.
Is there a tutorial around somewhere that would show how to reset the APE and then proceed with update. All I want to do is have my APE join my WiFi network so I can stream music to it via iTunes.

To reset the Express, see this Apple Support article.

Mar 10, 2014 8:24 AM in response to Tesseraxby vicexpress,The problem appears to be in the authentication with my wireless router. Here is what I see at the router end
I don't know if this is a problem at the router end or the APE end. I do have an N level APE and have had no similar problem with that. I also have an Apple Tv and do not have a problem with that.

Mar 10, 2014 10:16 AM in response to vicexpressby Tesserax,I'm afraid that I don't have any explanation or solution to why your 802.11g Express cannot connect but your 802.11n one can. In theory, both support the same wireless security types: WEP, WPA, & WPA2.
The only thing I can suggest at this time is to use a 26-character hex key for your wireless password instead of a passphrase (if that is what you are currently using) to see if this helps.
For example, try using: 0123456789abcdef0123456789 as a test key. If the older Express can connect now, you can change it for another of your choosing.
