Q: nspace-handler-set-snapshot-time

I have a MacBook Pro and with Time Machine which does backups to a synology NAS.

If Time Machine is enabled, m MacBook partially freezes a few times a day for around 10 minutes.

When it freeezes, I can swap between programs but that's it.

If I check the system log, the last message befor the freeze is:

kernel[0]: nspace-handler-set-snapshot-time: 1394483920

When I disable Time Machine, the freeze doesn't appear anymore

MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

That device is unsuitable for use with Time Machine. I know this isn't the answer you want, and I also know that the manufacturer says the device will work with Time Machine, and that it usually seems to work. Except when you try to restore, and find that you can't.

If you want network backup with Time Machine, use as the destination either an Apple Time Capsule or an external hard drive connected to another Mac or to an 802.11ac AirPort base station. Only the 802.11ac base stations support Time Machine, not any older model.

If you're determined to keep using the NAS for backup, your only recourse for any problems that result is to the manufacturer (which will blame Apple.)

I recently had this exact same problem with a mid-2015 MacBook Pro and a genuine Apple Time Capsule -- there's no way it's due to an "unsupported configuration".  It has to be due to a conflict with some other software or issue with the OS (I am running 10.10.5).

Are you running with FileVault?  I am -- not sure if that's related or not...but my problems were continuously happening and then IMMEDIATELY stopped upon disabling Time Machine backups and haven't happened again in almost 48-hours so I'm reasonably sure it's a Time Machine issue/conflict with something else.
