    Really silly!

I have a broken home button, and that's why my iPhone 4 starts randomly calling someone when not locked!

A real design flaw, the voice dail can not deactivated completely.

I consider now a jailbreak for the first time.

No, the real flaw is a hardware flaw that you should get fixed.

It's beyond ridiculous. Paying customers have been complaining about not being able to shut off Voice Control since July of LAST YEAR. I've put up with this nonsense for 2 days straight along with the fact that my home button won't work. Voice Control looks for music, tries to do Face Time, and even makes calls... all 3 without my permission! Apple needs to fix these problems NOW, because us customers are sick of this nonsense.

If Apple does not make it possible to turn of voice control,,, I will not recomend Apple products to 35 000 IT employees I work with,, I will replace all my apple devices,, 2 ipads, 5 iphones,, iMacs, MacAir,,, I will completely switch over to another Brand, probably Google Android, or WinMO,,, I will terminate ALL developer licenses... Move all my projects to the trash bin,,, and start over with another progamming language...

I called 15 people without even knowing it last saturday bacause of that ludacris Voice Control function,,, AAAHhhh! Enough is enough...

jrryan I am having sort of the same problem too I figured out how to turn it off but not permentally. This will hopefully make it to where it doesn't come on startup. First go to the bottom right hand corner and make sure that voice control is running then right click the icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen then go to options and uncheck "run at startup" and that should make it to where it will come up when ever you start your computer. That way it will not come on untill you turn it on.

    I hope that this helped:)

These instructions don't seem to apply to an iPhone.

I changed the home-click speed from default (which must equal super sensitive to anything remotely near it) to slow.  It appears to have worked for me - Good luck

    settings>general>accessibility>home-click speed>slow

Well, it would if VoiceOver and Voice Control were the same thing. But, they're not.
