Mar 3, 2014 8:35 AM in response to mjanssen777by Greg Pinelo1,Same problem here. Late 2013 MacBook Pro. Mouse freezes, whole system locks up 3-4 times a day. I have a suspicion there is still something amiss with Chrome and Mavericks.

Mar 3, 2014 8:53 AM in response to Greg Pinelo1by brycesteiner,Hello Greg,
I think this helped. I haven't had any more freeze ups over the weekend. I downloaded the combo 10.9.2 from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1726
Then I rebooted and zapped the PRAM and booted to the repair partition and repaired disk and permissions. There were actually quite a bit of errors. I don't usually have very many at all and I think this might have been the problem.
I then rebooted and installed from the downloaded combo update file. It installed much faster than the first time.
Good luck.

Mar 7, 2014 3:56 PM in response to Jan-H.by Mr_Mars,I have not had any problems on my iMac until I updated to 10.9.2 and now it randomly freezes and I have to force reboot. I have repaired permission and the disk and have gotten no errors, reset the PRAM and it still randomly freezes up. My hardware is fine and I did a fresh install of Mavericks on a clean drive about two months ago. This is most annoying and it's affecting my business. How do I get this fixed?

Mar 10, 2014 8:38 AM in response to Jan-H.by llirik K,This is definitely software related issue from 10.9.2
I'm having the same issue on my Retina Macbook Pro, afraid to upgrade the iMac. Was happening about once a day, now seems to be twice a day.
Anybody know how to downgrade to 10.9.1?

Mar 10, 2014 8:56 AM in response to mjanssen777by Greg Pinelo1,I ran the combo installer and zapped PRAM. It has greatly reduced, but not entirely eliminated the problem. I honestly don't know what triggers it, but I am suspicious of BusyCal. After some period of time in BusyCal, it freezes then others follow and whole system locks up. I have switched back to iCal and crashes greatly reduced again. This could be coincidence, or BusyCal could be the victim, not the perpetrator, but it does appear to be reproducible, at least for me. Any other BusyCal users seeing a similar pattern?

Mar 10, 2014 10:26 AM in response to brycesteinerby brycesteiner,I can confirm this stopped the crashes for me:
Even though I installed the update through the software update center, I downloaded the combo 10.9.2 from here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1726
Then I rebooted and zapped the PRAM and booted to the repair partition and repaired disk and permissions. There were actually quite a bit of errors. I don't usually have very many at all and I think this might have been the problem.
I then rebooted and installed from the downloaded combo update file from the support.apple.com listed above. It installed much faster than the first time.
It's been over a full week and no freezes.

Thanks for your help, I follwed your instructions and everything returned to normal, but after the Mac had been sleeping for a while I wake it up to do a file transfer to my external USB and it freezes the computer again.

Mar 12, 2014 8:24 AM in response to OzziesMACby brycesteiner,@ OzziesMAC and Greg Pinelo1
Have either of you had any more issues? Mine is still running just fine after doing disk repair and combo update. There is certainly something wrong with the update from software update or they way it's going about it.
@kwangkian
I would download the update then boot from the repair partition and check and repair the disk and permissions. Then I would boot up with nothing else running and install the 10.9.2 combo update.

Mar 12, 2014 8:29 AM in response to brycesteinerby Greg Pinelo1,Since installing the combo update and zapping PRAM, the problem has mostly disappeared, and I recommend everyone who's having crashes take that step (after backin up etc.). But I want ot emphasize "mostly." I'm still having about one hard freeze a day. Before the fix, I was having 5 or 6. FWIW, I think there is still something wrong with Mail, and still something up with Chrome.
