Q: CAN THIS BE SOLVED?

MY IMAC G5 SAYS, "YOU CANT OPEN THE APPLICATION "___" BECAUSE IT IS NOT SUPPORTED ON THIS ARCHITECTURE." IS THERE A SOLUTION FOR THIS?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

    No. Applications only written for Intel based Macs cannot run on PPC Macs, and vice versa.

     

    The only exception is running PPC based applications via Rosetta in Snow Leopard - but SL does not run on PPC Macs.

    You did not name the app, nor the version of OS X (presumably Leopard), but search and see if there was a former version that worked in the PPC environment on your version of OS X.

     

    For example, Office 2004 will work, where as Office 2008 and 2011 will not work.
