Q: Is there anyway to convert an Appleworks 6 document to Pages?

I have documents in Appleworks 6.  Is there anyway to convert them into pages

on my new Macbook Pro, 10.9.2?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

    HI nn,

     

    Pages 4 (part of the iWork '09 suite) will open word processing documents created with AppleWorks 6. Pages 5 will not.

     

    LibreOffice will open AppleWorks documents, and works most accurately with AW word processing documents containing only text. Once opened, the documents can be saved in MS Word format, which Pages will open.

    Be aware that the first (DVD) release of iWork '09 containing Pages 4 - available quite cheaply on eBay - will NOT open AW files. I found this out the hard way. However, if you then apply the free Apple upgrade, available via Support/Downloads, it will.
