I have tried everything again. I used winRAR and tried to extract contents and I must be doing it wrong because they are not extracting. I'm so frustrated with iTunes and Microsoft right now that I'm going to go out and buy a Linux machine and an Android phone. I just want the previous version of iTunes back! The **** thing updated itself and screwed everything up! Can you post the link to get a previous version again please? Apple and Microsoft are competing to see who can **** users off the most and make them install a million useless updates a week!

I feel your pain azmomof3grls. !!!!!! I am beyond frustrated and fed up right now. I have an Associates in Computer Networking/IT and experience in the field of tech support for various programs and network monitoring. I have NEVER had something so difficult and seen so many steps thrown at you to "see what it does". Well, endeth the rant. Good luck to you and everyone else that is having issues. I hope that all of these issues will be figured out so future iTunes users will be able to have exact directions on how to fix the issue!

See Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for a more recent and complete guide as to what to do.

    Easy fix on windows XP

    1) Start Windows task manager.....hold ctrl+alt+delete, then choose START TASK MANAGER

    2) In task manager click tab services

    3) under services tab find "MSiSCSI" right click choose STOP SERVICE

I did this immediately after seeing the error while Apple updates was trying to run.  It works and if you ever need the service it restarts on its own.

This worked like a dream, I followed all the steps. I still couldn't remove mobile device support despite doing as instructed in your second post. However on reinstalling itunes everything is ok again so massive thank you from me. I once again can use itunes, (and several other programs) thanks,
