Q: iOS 7.1 Personal Hotspot APN settings won't save on iPhone 4

Hello,

I am facing a problem, which would be great to resolve. Since I updated to iOS 7.1 I can't set APN setttings for Personal Hotspot in my iPhone. If I go to Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Settings, and I set the APNs(for data+mms) and i go back to save the freshly set APN settings then it saves, but if I touch any fields in the "Personal Hotspot" section (even focusing) and I go back the same way any changed value won't save (e.g. I also change data APN). In the menu "Cellular" there is an option for personal tethering where it just keeps loading and after a ehile it becomes an available option, but if I click on it it displays an error message like: "...contact: Carrier". So I tried everything, I reset my network settings, did 3 full restore(via iTunes, in recovery mode and DFU too). Then finally I downgraded to iOS 6.1.2 and guess what, it started working.. Then I thought it repaired some settings bug which burned in my device and I restored 7.1 in DFU. Now it is not working again. I need the help of community since I need hotspot tethering so hard everyday for my job. Thanks in advance!

I have the same problem! I can add my APN carrier to have data service, but not to use my iPhone 4 like a router (persona tethering hotspot).

Before iOs 7.1 everything worked properly!

    Does someone know the solution?

    Hi Dears,

    Same problem in Azerbaijan, Baku.

I am using iPhone 4 on IOS 7.1.

Please be informe that after update process on IOS 7.1 i have problem with my modem (tethering).

I lost my profile configuration, and while i try to create APN and other setting, they are losing at once after save.

Additionally want to say, that before it i have used UASB and wi-fi tethering withoout any problems.

I think it is some problems with profile configuration, because i can not create it.

Kindly ask you to help me to solve this problem as soon as possible.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hey Guys, only one thing.

I have put another sim (orange) in my iphone 4 ios 7.1 and Hotspot work perfect !!!!

With my carrier, pepephone, I have the same problem that all the people in this forum, but, changing the sim with other carrier everything is going perfect. Them, maybe the problem is with some carrier, not only with Apple...

The Hotspot feature continues to work with Apple authorized carriers who support it ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937 ) but before IOS 7.1, it worked, as far as I know, with all the carriers.  Since Apple seems to have maintained absolute silence in the forum about the Hotspot problem, it's impossible to know whether Apple has changed its policies (and therefore Hotspot doesn't work except with authorized carriers who implement it) or not.

Right, Arthur. As for Apple: this is a user to user forum, Apple is not here, and this is not the place to find out what is in their planning.

OK, but how ??? If anyone has a solution to downgrade, I am very much willing to do so to have a working personal hotspot again.

Because for now, I've got a worthless phone because of iOS 7.1.

Downgrade is not supported by Apple, hacking is irreversable.

Talked to Apple Support. They know the problem.

They say in some cases a iPhone restore helped and they worked for a solution to fix the faliure.

Apple Support assure it was a mistake, and they will fix it in a iOS 7.1.x relase soon.

They say it was not planned to stop hotspot support of not official carriers, it was only a bug.

    Thnaks Streifi.

The only thing now is to know WHEN are they going to do that. For some of us is very importnat to have hotspot in our iphones.

Soon for Apple can be days, weeks or months. We'll see.
