Q: Hi,

Just purchased a 5S but cannot use the fingerprint ID as I have a weatherproof case fitted.

I have turned SIRI off, but the phone can be opened by holdong down the acess button- obvious security issue which I cannot seem to resolve.

How do I make my phone safe- no access unless the 4 digit pin is entered- no siri

Cheers,

              Dave

You are in the iPad forum not the iPhone forum.

However, I also have a 5S and use a Passcode with it. No matter how long I hold down on any button, I cannot unlock the phone without the passcode. I do not see what Siri has to do with this anyway.

I am going to ask the hosts to move your post to the iPhone forum.

Once Siri is turned off, and the passcode is set:

    1. Check the Notifications Center and turn off Notifications View (under ACCESS ON LOCK SCREEN).
    2. Control Center - turn OFF Access on Lock Screen

At this point, once locked, the only function that should be avilable is the camer app (and any photo taken while in use; other images will not be visible).

I have tried the above but I (anyone) can still access my 5s by pressing and holding the Home button- this activates Siri which I have turned off.

This means that whilst in my pocket I am accidentally calling people, not good!

    Any more ideas?

    Cheers, Dave

That's not Siri. That's voice control. It's a different animal entirely.

    Settings>Passcode.

    Turn off Voice Dial.

Sorted it- for anyone who needs the answer..in regards to a 5S

Go into Setings, General, Siri, and turn Siri ON....

Go back  and then enter 'Touch ID & Passcode'

Enter your code and then in the 'Allow access when locked' section turn Siri OFF.

(the basics are the same for r iphones 4s and 5- 'ON' in one, 'OFF' in the other)

    All sorted- all secure

Hope this is of help to others,

    Cheers,

                  Dave
