Q: How do I restore past events to my iPad calendar?

I use the calendar on my IPad a lot, but when I went to look at an event from 6 weeks ago, I realized all my events except the recurring events from more than 30 days ago were missing.  I found online that I should change my "sync" under settings->calendars to something more than 'the last month', which I did.  I changed it first to 'all events', waited about 30 minutes, and when my past events still didn't show up I tried again with '6 months'.  Still none of my past events are showing.  I don't use calendars on any other devices (Mac or phone).  Any other suggestions on how to restore my events?

Thanks!

You do not have an iPhone 6 as no such device exists.

    Do you mean iPhone 5s?

Where is this calendar from? A mail account? Who is the provider (gmail, yahoo, exchange,etc...)?

Is it a subscribed or shared calendar? If you are not the creator of such calendars you can not configure them.

Sorry, I guess it's an Iphone 5, I got it about a year ago.  The calendar is just the ap called "calendar" that came with the phone.  I haven't subscribed for it and it's not shared with anything else, it's just for entering agenda items in on my phone.

Old events I have put in disappear after a while, I was excited to see I might be able to prevent this from happening, but don't see the setting for this where you mentioned.

Yeah, I read that in your earlier post.  I go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and scroll down to "Calendars", and there are 4 headings, which are "new invitation alerts", "time zone support", "default alert times", and "default calendar".  I don't see "sync" anywhere.  Not sure why that is.

I understand you access it via the iOS Calendar app but where is the calendar information from?

Is it synced from your computer?

If you sync calendars from your computer via iTunes then you need to set how far back to sync in iTunes.

Connect your phone toyou computer, launch iTunes, select the phone from devices, click the Info tab and scroll down to the Sync Calemdars section. Uncheck the Do not sync events older than box. This will sync all events from the selected calendar(s) on your computer to your phone.

Thanks for figuring this out for me, Axeman!  I appreciate it.  I'll give it a try and we'll see if it works.  Cheers!

You have to have an internet connection (either cellular or wi-fi) to sync from iCloud.

Try it when you have internet.

When I tried step 1 all my past events in past years came back.  You are a life saver!

Do I have to do step 2 under iCloud...as I'm afraid to delete them now?

My apologies. I am not sure what you mean be step 1 and step 2 as I addressed more than one issue in this post. I do not know exactly what problem you are having but if everything is now as you want then you do not need to do anything else.

Sorry....I read this post as a two step process and only did the first part as it worked in my iPhone.  Was afraid to do the iCloud part in case it deleted all the events that I managed to get back.

    If so, try this:

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > In the Calendars section tap Sync > All Events

    Then

Settings > iCloud > toggle off Calendars, delete from phone. Wait for it to finish then turn it back on

Also would like to know how you did the screen capture you posted in another post above.

    Thanks

    I see.

As long as changing the sync settings worked there is no need to do anything else.
