Mar 18, 2014 7:01 AM in response to HolleeNicoleeby Elizabethdancer,Okay guys, with windows 8 and my iphone 4 this worked;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69-g-0cM7uI
Just wait until the little instruction window pops up on his screen on the right and screen capture it, then you don't have to listen to him bash Apple while on his iTunes helping you fix yours.
If that doesn't help, watch what he does, then use the screen capture. It worked for me.

Mar 23, 2014 11:14 AM in response to HolleeNicoleeby Nicoleeex,I'm having a worse issue here.
I'v had a massege telling me that itunes can't connect to my iphone...unknown error... So i'v tried unintalling it and now I cant even install it. It tells me "network error" when my networks going well, so i'v tried moving my library to another computer, and it keeps on telling me that it couldnt sync because it fails to start. And every time I click on something it takes like 20 seconds for it to go to for example when I click on "Iphone"... And i'v had problems before too on computer 2 where it would tell me that there is not enough space for syncing when i'd have around 1 GB free. I just dont get it and i'd appriaciate someone's help!!
Thanks!!

Apr 20, 2014 1:44 PM in response to amandaathenaby Awkwardly_Nice,★HelpfulFound these steps posted elsewhere by another and the solution worked for me...
1. Go to Windows 8.1 Control Panel.
2. Go to Hardware and Sound; Devices and Printers; Unspecified (look for Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
3. Right-click, then select properties on the menu list.
4. Select the "Hardware" tab at the top When the properties dialog box opens, once more select properties on the lower right hand button.
5. Under the "Driver" tab menu, the update driver button will be grey and unselectable here. So you need to select and click "Change Settings" button located near the lower left corner.
6. Now you can click the "Driver" tab menu near the top, so you can see the "Update Driver" button.
7. Select "Update Driver".
8. Select and click "Browse my computer for driver software".
9. For Windows 8.1 64 bit, it should be located in the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
10. Click Next, and let the driver re-install.
11. iTunes 11.1.4.62 should open automatically if your iphone is connected already

Apr 23, 2014 4:00 AM in response to HolleeNicoleeby beetg001,So I'm sure I'm not the only one who tried all the above things (updating drivers and iTunes etc) yet still couldn't manage to get it working. I'm really quite annoyed and embarrassed at how simple it was to fix.
Whilst the iPhone was connected to the PC (makes the sound but doesn't show up on My Computer) I swiped to unlock my phone. It had a push notification along the lines of "This PC is trying to access your phone, do you want to allow?" I said yes. Instantly it started working again.
Facepalm at how long it took me to work that one out!

May 16, 2014 9:41 AM in response to HolleeNicoleeby Philhopley23,Dont listen to anyone here they dont know what they are talking about i will tell you step by step how to sort this problem out but what i will say is that if it doesnt work for everyone then i will post alternate solution.
Step one - Open control panal.
Step two - Open device manager.
Step three - find your Iphone device
Step four - just simply update the software and choose to browse online. (If you have tried this and it has not workes then i would recommend uninstalling and the installing the software for the phone. You can just browse for it on google.com)
Hope this helps.

May 18, 2014 1:25 PM in response to HolleeNicoleeby laurenmcoley,Hi everyone. I had this exact same problem. I took both my phone and MacBook Pro to the Apple store, and as it turns out my logic board was screwed up and needs replacing. I'm not sure how it happened, but my MacBook would charge everything EXCEPT for my iPhone or iPod. Something about how it can't send or receive data. It also wouldn't recognize flash drives or anything. It is about a $500 fix. For those of you who are struggling to figure it out, and uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, performing updates, etc. isn't working, the logic board may be something worth getting checked out.

May 19, 2014 6:40 PM in response to HolleeNicoleeby Philhopley23,They step by step I explained helped me to get my phone to start charging, but if it still doesn't let you connect to iTunes the you will need to do a factory reset on your laptop.
Now I do not know if this will work on a mac but it worked for me on windows 8.

Jun 17, 2014 5:47 AM in response to HolleeNicoleeby Sweetness_cw,So I tried to do all of the above, But when I go into Device manager, I can't find my iphone anywhere.. I have windows 7, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. IT WILL CHARGE! but it does not show up as connected to my computer or my itunes. I'm not sure what would cause this. Help?

Aug 13, 2014 2:40 AM in response to HolleeNicoleeby ScallisonsAnchor,It's ridiculous how this post was made a full year ago, and the problem is still accuring. I recently received my Iphone 5s, but before I got it I had an Iphone5 and it randomly stopped connecting to itunes. Once I got my new phone I tried hooking it up to itunes but it didn't work, I tried on 3 different computers but nothing, none of the solutions above worked.
I decided I would try uninstalling Itunes, I have windows 8.1 so once I went into the Uninstall a Program section, and clicked Itunes, I saw a repair button, so instead of uninstalling Itunes I repaired it, it took while to repair but once I did my Iphone popped into Itunes, them I got an error saying it could not be synced, I guess I only fixed half of the problem.
