When attempting to login, the password is accepted, the dial starts, the apple appears. After 15 seconds, the apple changes to a "not allowed" icon (circle with slash through it). I can only logon as a guest. Thanks for any ideas.

Ciao, this pointed me in the right direction. No luck on resolution though. I made it through the RAM steps so far.
What OSX version are you running?
